Even the Silverado EV likely struggles as a work truck. Too small of a bed and too awkward.
Lol, my city (Philly) L&I department uses these as work trucks (same spec but with tiny steel wheels) and they look beyond ridiculous! They are absolutely MASSIVE. They have a sizeable fleet of Bolt's and a few older GM SUV's and sedans, but this thing looks so out of place here with these very narrow streets in many areas.

I see this when I think Silverado EV. I see 2500 non HD. Both use 8 lug hubs
Checked out the Cyber Truck the other day. I have always liked it. I think it has good looking styling. Futuristic. A complete concept put into production. (Similar to FJ Cruiser)
Is this thing useless as a work truck? Yes. Let’s get that out of the way.
I really like the design. A total passion project The front solid light beam is cool, not as elegant as the Y but I like it. The exterior door handle pads are cool. I like the front end. Overall shape I did. The interior is super cool. Lovely leather or fake leather seats (I don’t care what they are made from). Nice form fitting. A sunshade I really like that there is no door sills, very smiler to my SUVs. I also dig the push button signals. Overall the interior is a nice place to be. The bed is quite interesting. Nice materials and finish. The stainless steel exterior is cool. Touching the doors when they are open remind me of a pop can.
what I don’t like is the giant wiper. Sticks out like a sore thumb. The idiotic wheel covers have to go. The retractable bed cover sounds super cheap, I would have expected something far more premium. Much smaller in the showroom when next to the Y. Lack of a head up display. It really needs a heads up display
I would totally buy one of these. I kinda wish Tesla built and marketed the Cyber Truck as more off road. I like the marketing that it is built for any planet lol.
this vehicle is more like a Ford 150 Blackwood. A Santa Cruz. The Subaru that once had a pick up bed. It’s definitely a premium product. It’s a totally novelty. Kinda like an accessory. I could see the Cyber Truck being towed to the off road site with a fully charged battery for a day of fun day in the sun and dirt. I also envision this truck where you go out for a fancy dinner. Go to the movies. Then stop at Home Depot on the way home where one buys some sort of tropical plant to put in the bed.
A license plate with TOY 4WD or TOY 4X4 would be the perfect finish.

I test drove a CT yesterday and thought it drove really well for its size and was pretty darn quick too. The steering wheel shape was a little weird but the buttons were more like actual buttons vs the haptic button on my S. It was a little weird looking down at the screen for the rear view mirror vs looking up an actual mirror but I’m sure one can get used to it.
I did test the one big wiper and it was strange to see such a big wiper and looks ridiculous but it did do a really good job of wiping the windshield.
Sound system as usual was very good.
All in all, I thought it was pretty good but not a car for me for several reasons but still cool. I think I would rather have a Hummer EV than this.
Lastly, not sure how well they are selling anymore since they had around 6 new ones for sale at the service center I was at.

The initial takers have gotten theirs and now its starting to pile up with discounts. They have plans of launching a cheaper 67k single motor, but I dont think a cheaper truck will make sense for them unless its at the original preorder price. Its a lot of money for budget conscious buyers and the profit Tesla is making the cybertruck just wont make it at the lower end.
Tesla makes its money on their top tier trims like any other oem, so its going to have rethink how to attract those buyers back to the sales counter.
Trump administration was set to purchase $400 million worth of armored Teslas
The Trump administration is expected to purchase $400 million worth of armored Tesla vehicles, according to a new State Department document detailing procurement for fiscal year 2025.
Tesla Chief Executive Elon Musk is a top White House official who has been leading the Department of Government Efficiency, a unit focused on shrinking the federal workforce and ferreting out corruption.
The document does not specify what Tesla vehicles will be purchased by U.S. officials, but Musk's Cybertruck, with its militaristic design and stainless steel exterior, could be an option.
After reports circulated Wednesday night of the State Department's intent to purchase Tesla vehicles, the document was edited, at 9:12 p.m., and now says the federal contract is for $400 million worth of "armored electric vehicles," but the word "Tesla" was removed.
Responding to a segment by MSNBC's Rachel Maddow about the $400 million contract, Musk wrote on X on Wednesday night: "Hey @Maddow, why the lie?"
The State Department and Musk did not return requests for comment.
Musk, who spent more than a quarter-billion dollars to help elect Trump, has used an X account devoted to DOGE to highlight what he views as excessive or unnecessary federal contracts.
As Musk's deputies have gained access to nearly two dozen federal agencies, ethics experts have raised concern about the billionaire running into conflicts of interest, since Musk runs six companies, some of which are under investigation by government authorities. Musk's companies, including Tesla and SpaceX, also have multibillion-dollar contracts with the federal government.
Most of the federal money Musk has received has gone to SpaceX, the rocket company, for projects including work for NASA to launch Musk's Starship with astronauts to the moon.
A new Cybertruck starts at around $82,000, and about 38,000 were sold last year, according to *** Automotive. The truck, which was unveiled in 2019 and began reaching customers in 2023, has faced complaints about rust, finger pinches and defective accelerator pedals.
The State Department document also shows that some Tesla competitors are set to receive lucrative, yet considerably smaller, contracts for armored vehicles, including from BMW, which is expected to supply about $40 million worth of SUVs to the federal government
