I know that it isn't really fair to compare a sports car to my Tesla but the exhaust sound, handling and rawness of the car was just more enjoyable to me for "taking it out for a drive just because." While it is waaaay slower than my Tesla, it just felt awesome taking it out for a drive.
No doubt, just picked up a 2012 M3 with the 4.0 V8 and 6MT. That will likely take the place for weekend/happy drives, but the Polestar 2 is no slouch and provides a different kind of enjoyment.

Its understandable. My favorite car i've owned was my G35 coupe....got it in the first year it came out and loved the exhaust note and overall experience of the car. I was pretty young when I got it so i have really fond memories of it...i kept it for 11 years .

While I've only had my EV for a couple months, I think I liked driving my ICE car so much because it felt primitive and nostalgic because it felt so different than what I was driving everyday. It felt so "old school" that it was cool. EVs just feel more futuristic and modern in comparison.

I just recommended this car to my in laws; they are looking for a new and are frankly too intimidated by Tesla

It's the perfect transition EV, I ended up picking this over a Model 3 because that platform was just too minimalist for my tastes. My wife who is very picky about ride quality also approves, which is another plus...if I like it or not

Glad you finally did a full power run lol! You take it to limiter?

I'm surprised you haven't racked up at least 100 full power launches yet, I usually hit at least 30 in the first day when I buy a new car but I think I might be abnormal lol!

When I got my A8 I hit 130mph 13 times on just the drive home and after it's tune I hit 180 on the way home. When I picked up the 460 I made it about 1/5 mile from the dealer and ran it up to 130 on the test drive. Same as story when I drove back, but it's limiter is too low to really enjoy the engine.

I've done a few, but never floored it. I can beat a ton of cars barely going half throttle, but the M340i is anything but slow so I went full throttle to beat him before the lane merged. I swear to God I felt like I was going to black out LOL...it was probably more the surprise!

I've done lots of runs with my Lexus, here's one I did last week, I think I shared this already:

Don't worry folks, there were no cars around and it was a short run. Earphones are a must to get that pure NA V6 induction sound experience!

M340’s are quick for what they are and should beat Polestar on paper. Bone stock I ran 4.1 0-60 and 12.1 at 115mph. That’s a good bit quicker and faster. The difference is EVs are so consistent they can be tough to beat.

Not just consistent, but AWD that puts 100 percent of the power to the ground. Before he even got rolling I was already on the move, it could have ended differently if he launched first or got a better launch. Anyway 0 to 60 we are pretty evenly matched, the Polestar is probably .01 or .02 seconds slower 0 to 60, quarter mile I would probably lose as Polestar is around 12.6s

Stage 1 it and you have it in the bag, upgrade the tires to ensure a kill. S1 puts them in the 3.5-3.7 second range easily.

Did you have to use launch control to get that time? The EVs are just mash and go to get those times easily.

That's what I forgot to ask, a lot of times launch control or a rolling launch is needed. Polestar does 0 to 60 in 4.1 to 4.4 seconds by just mashing the throttle, no launch control needed

Thankfully he wasn't modded or I would have been at the losing end

Mash and go, if you build boost up with brake boosting on a rollout it will also help times. If you have good tires you can do a full boost launch as well.

If you have an Audi you can just smash the gas whenever you want and do a full boost launch every time with no concern at all. BMW also makes an X-drive version of the 340 and most of their powerful cars
