Yeah, it is kind of nice, especially when you see the "no way that little thing is gonna beat me" look on their faces! Nobody plays with me when I'm driving the IS350, occasionally a tuned Civic or WRX, and of course Mustangs and Chargers ignore me (I wouldn't even try with those guys). I haven't tried with a muscle car yet, I suspect they would just ignore or laugh at me

 

A subtle ode to the mothership

 

Today the wife and I decided to take our German shepherd on hike in the hills, we took the Hyundai Ioniq EV. The total driving was roughly about 100 miles. I have to say one thing, Hyundai built a great EV. Although it's shared with the Ioniq hybrid and not built as an EV from the ground up, it's an excellent vehicle. It only has 138 hp, but it's got a lot of instant torque that makes this car fun to drive and usable as a daily. It's also very efficient, getting anywhere from 4.4 to 5.8 miles per kWh. The only thing holding it back is it's limited range of 170 miles. Way more efficient than my Polestar, which averages around 3 miles per kWh

Another thing I discovered on the Polestar...it doesn't spray windshield washer fluid from a nozzle in the hood, the nozzles are integrated into the upper part of the wiper arm, so no splashing, no spraying wiper fluid on the cars behind you. You can clean your windows at any speed, and even in strong wind conditions. A pretty cool feature

 

I had that on my G35 and my Model 3. I like it better than the splash.

 

Yeah, I just love it when the guy in front of me splashes my window while trying to clean theirs. I know it's not a new technology, but it's the first time I've used it and it works great by not wasting washer fluid by spraying over your roof!

 

yup a lot of cars have it now, but honest if you do that at fwy speed, fluids are still going to fly off your windshield as you wipe and get to the car behind you. but definitely not as messy

 

So I learned something else interesting today. Yesterday I discovered a screw in my rear passenger tire, so I took the car to my mechanic to repair it. Although it's a Michelin Primacy tire, it's not so standard. Turns out it has a padded layer inside to reduce road noise, which now makes sense why it's so quiet. This tire is also used by Tesla. A regular patch won't work and a special patch kit is needed. Patch kit has been ordered and I'll take the car back to him once he gets it. It's a very small leak, so I will monitor it until it's repaired

 

Go to Discount Tires. They can repair the patch easily with the foam. I've had it done a couple times with screws and nails.

 

I actually have an appointment with them tomorrow. Unfortunately they are fully booked today

What color was it? Polestar is definitely a brand people should keep on their radar, as their next version (Polestar 3) is going to be built from the the ground up as an EV. As it is, the Polestar 2 is a great "transition" EV because people moving from an ICE would be familiar with it's controls and layout, and most people don't even know it's an EV until they get up close. Also if someone is looking for practicality and some occasional fun, this checks those boxes. Not luxurious, but comfortable, practical and excellent fit and finish, and they offer a lot of options such as glass roof, performance packs, etc
