I hope this goes well. I've used both companies and have always been pleased with their services.

Great, less competition yet again.

Oh great.....less options yet again. They better not screw up my ability to order oddball tire sizes.

I suspect one big reason (among others) why demand for tires is increasing is because so many people are ruining them on curbs/potholes/rough-pavement with this low-profile crap and giant wheels. What vehicle-designers don't seem to get is that rubber-band tires and big wheels, designed or sharp-handling rather than impact-protection, are best on the much smoother roads in Europe......not for what passes for much of the road/bridge infrastructure in the U.S., particularly in the Snow Belt and cities of the Northeast.

Hopefully Discount could redo Tirerack's wheel section page, being really conseritive of widths & offsets.

No one in my family has ever curbed any wheel or ever dented any of our cars.....I think it's more user stupidity than anything else. Bad potholes are another matter but I've not killed a low profile tire yet on one.

Yes, careless driving/parking plays a role, and I wasn't pointing any fingers at specific individuals....but go to almost any tire shop or dealer service-bay, and you will see for yourself the number of old ruined wheels/tires lying around that have been replaced.

I'd put the lack of natural resources (shortages of everything) and the advent of street take-overs (donuts) are likely bigger contributors of tire wear than potholes. One drive through any California neighborhood and you'll see just about every intersection marked with circle skid marks. It's something I hear every night.

I've always used America's Tire and have loved their service and price.

The roads in Philadelphia look like Baghdad. I refuse to go lower than a 40 in profile, despite lots of cars I would otherwise buy like the G70, IS and M3. I’d be interested if anyone in mid-Atlantic metros have been able to make these work. Always looking for an excuse to upgrade my ride!😄

Oh I'm well aware, I bought both my LSs used and on the 430 I had to buy it 3 new rims. The 460 required one only and was solved by swapping the spare rim into use. The Jeep required all 4.

Drives me nuts since I didn't even realize people did that and never thought to replace the damaged part.

I liked Tire Rack and used them when I was in NJ.
Now that I'm in SC, I go with Discount Tire. There aren't any Discount Tire stores in NJ. It will be interesting to see if tire prices go up.

Wow, I hope discount tire will keep Tirerack's current feature on tire data. I used to buy tires from tire rack when they had a lot of rebates and sales. But not lately for the past few years since Amazon/Walmart always have them cheaper and free shipping.

Yes, I always used Tire Rack’s site for research.

Tirerack was always better for researching.

Discount, to me, always had better rebates, free shipping, and no sales tax (until recently)
