Motor Trend disagrees with you here about drivability. Not saying Ecoboost isn’t potent but I would rather have a big V8. Big V8s don’t struggle for torque.

They can buy the Chevy, I agree. I’m not sure what we are arguing about. Most fleet trucks have the 5.3, and the 6.2 will gulp regular and lose some horsepower but fine. I don’t care what people buy and the Tundra would be on my short list if I were buying. All I said was I wasn’t too impressed with the performance if it claims to have 489/538. 92 MPH trap speed?

Gas is up 56%, it will go down again.

Take me, I make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and love cars and I would like to pay less for fuel. I love the fact that my car gets 30 MPG on the highway and much better mileage overall than my LS460 did. The new 48V tech in the S580 that improves that even more sounds great. I see millionaires who invest in all kinds of exotic home HVAC systems to reduce their utility bills. People with means do care what things cost.
How many times have I said that it’s the worst for the poor stuck driving old 10mpg vans and trucks who can’t afford to get anything else? At least several times. So let’s not infer I lack empathy.

The only reason this started, I responded because you said gas bills, a couple of MPG make a difference for consumers with $75,000 trucks. I really don’t think that is the case in general.

This country is all about more and more, that’s the point. You make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and are concerned about what, a few mpg? Really? Truly? Bull. If you want to conserve gas because of your personal views that’s different, not arguing against it.

I care about the price of fuel, but it doesn’t affect me. If you truly cared you wouldn’t have sprung for the V8.

Top selling vehicles in this country are GM1500s which are overwhelmingly V8 powered. 2021 200 series Land Cruiser sales skyrocketed mostly bc the V8 was about to be axed.

You mean the 2.7L I-4 that got 18MPG vs 21 in the old 5.3 V8?? With the V8 model weighing 350lbs more? Not all new tech is good tech, or tech that even works. Don’t forget we have a wager on whether GM will still be making V8s in 2030, that’s 7 years and 11 months.

You have to drive it, you can't just look at the numbers. It will feel great.

Gas is up 56%, it will go down once we get people back in charge who don’t all but declare war on fossil fuels, that was a big part of it. Not gonna argue politics/economy and we can’t anyway.
Thats not true, gas is up 56% but from the artificial low created by the pandemic, 30% or so of that increase is that artificial low correcting itself. Barring another period of time where nobody is using gas, gas prices will never go back to what they were.

The only reason this started, I responded because you said gas bills, a couple of MPG make a difference for consumers with $75,000 trucks. I really don’t think that is the case in general.
Every measure used to measure public sentiment on the matter disagrees with you.

If you want to conserve gas because of your views that’s different, not arguing against it. If you are with the downsize movement CAFE standards and like it, good for you. Godspeed.
The country is not about "more and more". Thats not sustainable. And sure, I would like to pay less for everything. I am not "for" downsize movement but I am all for reduced gas costs if I can have the same characteristics that I want. Give me a 9 or 10 speed transmission that shifts well, cylinder deactivation if it works well, 48v mild hybrid setups if they work well.

Top selling vehicles in this country are GM1500s which are overwhelmingly V8 powered. 2021 200 series Land Cruiser sales skyrocketed mostly bc the V8 was about to be axed.
You get my point.

There are many factors that determine the price of gas, such as demand, the current price of a barrel of oil, turmoil in the world, etc etc etc

This is going to get shut down, let’s stop with the gas/US economy talk. I said my piece, others said theirs. Cool. Like everything else we debate here, we’re gonna find out eventually what happens! lol

Folks are about to get booted from this thread and formal warnings.

you guys know better, if you’ve “said your piece” you’ve said too much and should edit your posts to remove political content. We shouldnt have to keep asking this.

And the Capstone has the SHORT bed...

Thanks for posting the pictures. I do really like the Capstone but I think I'll go with a Platinum or 1794 so I can have the long bed crew max.
