I don’t think any defender has a manually adjusted wheel? I’ve never seen one. Mine has power tilt/telescope plus an easy access mode which moves the wheel and seat to the most accessible position and adjusts to your stored position when you fasten your seatbelt. You also have the option for the air suspension to automatically move to the lowest position for easy access in or out and automatically raise to the standard ride height as you drive away.
To me, luxury is power everything and real wood. It doesn't have to be like LS430 or old Jag, but there needs to be enough real wood in there to really separate it from lesser models.

LS400, LS430 and GS300 were all cloth seats. Leather was an option. Sunroofs were optional on LS models and RX models. Even LX it was an option.
Are they fake Lexus models?

I did see that. Maybe that wasn't an American spec? SURELY they made it standard on their ridiculously over-engineered $40,000 sports luxury coupe. That SC was a knockout, mags said it was better than the BMW 8 series for half the price.

That is a US spec. MPH on the speed cluster. No doubt SC was superb vehicle, Low end models were Toyota Soarers in other parts of the world. Single and twin turbo 2.5 I6 motors were available as well was back in the 1990s

I was only trying to say deception is wrong if that is the intent to percive high cost if using cheap materials.
fake wood has been used in cars forever. why? yup, it costs less than real wood. is it deception? i guess, but if people are happy with an adequate number of buyers, then it's a success. ALL cars are compromises.
The Schwinn bicycle was a name brand quality bike back in the day but from what I understand got bought out by another company.
I bought my wife a Schwinn bike thinking it was quality. All the parts looked aluminum aka will not rust in humid in Florida.
After a two years it was rusted junk and I rolled it to the road for the garbage man to take.
All the aluminum was fake using impressivr techniques to brush and spray the metals to make cheap iron look like high quality aluminum.
Thats the kind deceptive fakery I was talking about.
was the schwinn you bought represented as real aluminum?
was the schwinn you bought similar in price taking inflation into account than one you bought 'back in the day'? or more likely, less expensive?
Vegan leather and fake wood I have no problem with if disclosed of course.
agreed.

should "a mercedes" interior always have wood too? well, a cla-250 has leather optional and wood is NOT available.
I would be very disappointed to get into a $60,000 GX and find it had no power steering wheel, memory seats and fake wood trim.
but you already know $60K is no longer that much. so car makers, faced with rising costs have no choice but to either raise prices further, or cut content.

some like a more stealthy view... mc LC has black interior. i didn't like the bright red or bright 'caramel'.
Yeah but the real leather smell though.
is that really a thing still? leather when new seems to smell different with each manufacturer which leads me to believe what we're smelling is dyes and other chemicals and not the leather.

IDC how far this world shifts there are consumers who will demand real leather and wood in their luxury cars. Offer the PC stuff, fine. As long as it's a choice.

and those demands will be met in fewer and fewer more and more expensive vehicles.
