2022 Lexus LX600 (4th gen)
Smallest engine available in North America is a 4.0L V8 biturbo. No V6, no 4-banger. Looks like the I-4 is only available in China, and only exists to dodge taxation on large-displacement engines in that country specifically. It is the first 4-cylinder G-class in almost 30 years. The next smallest engine available anywhere in the world is an I-6 turbodiesel, and in most countries the weakest option is the 416hp/450lbft G550.
When I go back I’ll check out all the door slams and tailgate. Huge mistake axing that. Range Rover and X5/X7 have tailgates.
I’ll have more time when I go back, they called for me. Not done checking it out. The absolute first thing I noticed were the seats, they were out of this world comfortable. (But no massage up front, what the F??)

just got a 2022 (surprised they are not selling 2023 yet). The old lift gate was great, feels a little cheaper without it. The trunk is huge now though without the jump seats. The CarPlay is decent, but already having problems. The rear seat entertainment is probably as useless as can be. It only supports miracast or hdmi video. No inbuilt apps like YouTube, etc. for the kids.
the white leather though looks and feels fantastic, def an upgrade from my ‘19. The front console set up is cool but still not well thought out. No next track or next channel button, no pause button, and no fan speed (but many off-road toggle buttons). Also, they used the same driver dashboard menu items and graphics from the last gen (like the fuel range, mpg counter, tire psi, etc.). I heard the Sequoia is much better in the interface.
but it’s my 3rd LX, so I still am a huge fan of the truck. Not worth going back to a Range R.

Engine in the new car, is it better than your old V8?

Yes def but much of the feeling is really just conceptual. You can’t feel the difference between the v6 TT and the v8 in terms of low rpm power or acceleration. I didn’t feel any noticeable turbo lag. I’m driving the car 6 hours tomorrow on a trip so I’ll have a better idea. But based on my initial impressions, nothing is lacking in the v6.
There is a an automatic off function when stopping at red lights, etc. Still figuring out how to turn this off, cause it does slow down the process of moving after a stop.

And yes, start stop sucks. I think there's a button for it, not within the screen menu.
CR did their test of the LX600
Missing V8 is a mistake
V6 is a little coarse
interior not up to $100,000
fit and finish outstanding
ride is fine
turning circle is terrible
not enough space
3rd is terrible
All of the reviewers on the show said they would rather have some other suv.

Owners confirming what magazines said when they tested it, rough idle.... eek. How bout that axed V8 now? Not too many owners complained about the last powertrain.

Idle is every bit as smooth as any LS in the 200LX. You simply can't tell it's running, like a proper Lexus.

I have an LX 600 F Sport in for review right now (full write up coming next week)
1) It drives a LOT better than the Ultra Luxury -- the F Sport tuning and the rear stabilizer bar are night and day better, but not uncomfortable.
2) the interior is a nice step forward in terms of technology, but, yes, not as fancy as something German (100K+ and no massaging seats?)
3) Enjoying the extra power when mashing the throttle, but I agree with the owners and other reviewers, this 3.5 has a rough idle, the auto start/stop vibration is massive, and the vehicle really doesn't like coming to a quick stop and then immediately accelerating... you know, F Sport-y driving. Tons of body roll too that the Europeans and Americans tend to dial out.
4) The ride in comfort mode is excellent, but would love to experience this suspension with 20 or 21-inch tires (a little more sidewall for added comfort)

The front seats are maybe the most comfortable I've ever sat in, at least the one at my dealership a few months back. It was white leather, not sure if that was an upgrade or not.
They are indeed comfy, but I'm a little disappointed they aren't as bolstered as the F Sport seats you'll find in virtually every other sedan and crossover F Sport. (That said, this thing can't handle well enough to need bolstering and too much thigh support would probably detract from entering and exiting the vehicle for most customers.
Will check out the MPG, but just know that, when doing reviews, since time with the press loaners is limited and because we drive a little more aggressively than normal real-world driving (you know, for science!), the numbers tend to come out on the lower side.
Cheers.
