Got that plus a towel to sop up all of the water. It's not a trickle of water, it's like pouring a cup full of water into the trunk.

The Model 3 is not that far off in winter!

Haha yes. To me, the rear glass is analogous to a ski slope - the water being the skier doing a ski jump, landing in the trunk!

Another negative I forgot to mention (which I edited in my 12-month post above) is how hot the cabin gets. The all-glass roof is nice and sleek looking but you pay a price in summer. Thankfully, I have a heat repellent window tint on all windows including the roof which helps reduce the heat transfer somewhat.

CorradoMR2......keep in mind there is Tesla's Mobile service which I've used a couple times, all scheduled through the one account and app you have on your phone that controls your car and any payment (i.e. Supercharger use) automatically.

I wasn't aware of this service. I have to assume it's only available in large metro areas. I will look into, thanks

The Model Y has a heat pump now that should yield much better efficiency in the winter...i hear the Model 3 is going to get the heat pump soon as they changed the frunk design in the recent models to the Y to accommodate the heat pump. I hear the Tesla mobile service is actually pretty prevalent in Florida so something to look into. I haven't been to the dealer in over a year...only service center i've seen are for tire rotations as the PS4S are expensive so I want to maintain...the Tesla is faaaar better on tires than the last IS350 F-Sport I had which eats tires faster than any other car i've ever had (Avg. 14k miles before fronts go bad). I have to say though the car does need PPF for the front as the Tesla paint durability is pretty bad....very soft and scratch prone.

you can tell the car was designed in cool silicon valley.

i can't imagine how hot it would feel down here in florida or worse, arizona!
the model X glass roof is ENORMOUS.

i've certainly been intrigued by teslas and tempted but i'm still not ready to pull the trigger on one.

Do you have cabin overheat protection on? My 3 cools down from 100F to 68F in just a couple of minutes. When I leave the office, I just turn on the climate and by the time I get there, it's nice and comfortable

Yeah, very convenient and helps keep the cabin cool by the time I get into the car. It's just that you can feel the sun's heat through the glass roof while driving competing against the cold circulating air. No biggie in the grand scheme of things but if I had a choice, I'd take a conventional metal roof.

and don't forget about the bottom rear panel that will catch rain water and pull right off. so many people have complained and they all have video to prove @_@

yes the overheating protection is awesome, my car is usually cooler than my previous cars when i leave work and cool down really fast. but it is also true that rear seats can get pretty warm. on longer trips my kids would complain in the back

Outstanding review and awesome job reporting back after a year of ownership to update things. It's clear to see you put a lot of effort into the thread!

General question. Obviously your winters are more harsh than us, south of Canada, but do you pre-warm your battery before departing (turning on the heater, especially while still on the charger)? I reduce some of the range hit this way, since the main battery drain is the car spending energy to generate heat. I'd ultimately like to test a Y with the heat pump to see how it compares.

Default Tesla Model 3 Performance Vs Porsche Taycan 4S Lapping Nürburgring

EVs are proving they are very track capable. Too bad they can't do it endurance style but they will get there with time. The Model 3 Performance is hell of a deal given its actually faster than a Taycan 4S.

Tesla Model 3 Performance Vs Porsche Taycan 4S Lapping Nürburgring

Around the 'Ring they go.

This matchup isn't just interesting since it's a Tesla Model 3 and Porsche Taycan, but instead, the particular configurations of each car is something to pay attention to. We've got the range-topping Tesla Model 3 Performance and the entry-level Porsche Taycan 4S.

Why these two cars? Well, the top-of-the-line Taycan Turbo S is in Tesla Model S Performance territory when it comes to acceleration. The Turbo S is also very expensive, at $185,000. The Model 3 Performance starts at $54,900 and has an automaker-reported 3.2-second zero-to-60-mph time, a top speed of 162 mph, and 299 miles of EPA-rate range.

The Porsche Taycan 4S (with the Performance Plus battery option, which is the only option currently available) starts at $103,800. According to Porsche, it can hit 60 mph in 3.8 seconds. Its top track speed is 155 mph and it has just 203 miles of EPA-estimated range.

Sebastien Vittel borrowed a Model 3 Performance from Tesla France and hit the 'Ring. Needless to say, he was blown away by the car. He says all automakers, engineers, and CEOs need to pay attention and move quickly if they want to stay in the game into the future. The Model 3 hung in there really well on the first lap. However, he says the Taycan seemed to be stronger than the Model 3 on lap 2.

Vittel says both cars in stock form are capable of a lap time of around 7.45 in optimum conditions. The Tesla proved to be the better car in terms of the sprint (one lap). While it didn't suffer significantly on lap 2, it finished on par with the Taycan. Both cars started with a 95% state of charge. The Model 3 ended with 53% capacity remaining after the two laps. The Taycan had 56% remaining.

Check out the video to see it in action. Then, leave us a comment below.

Default Tesla officially launches Model 3 2021 refresh with more range and features

More range....the long range can get 353 miles and slightly faster. Better winter efficiency with a heat pump too. Good refresh.

Tesla officially launches Model 3 2021 refresh with more range and features

@FredericLambert

Tesla has now officially launched the Model 3 2021 refresh with more range and all the features we were anticipating.

Over the last week, we have been reporting on Tesla currently updating the Model 3 with a significant refresh that includes several new features.

We have seen the new center console, new wheels, and reported on a few other features, but it is now official.

Tesla has now officially updated its online configurator with the new Model 3 2021 refresh, and as expected, it packs quite a few more updates under the hood.

On top of the previously reported aesthetic changes, Tesla has also made new efficiency improvements, including the new heat pump system, a source familiar with the matter told Electrek, and it has delivered longer range across the lineup:
The Tesla Model 3 Long Range Dual Motors is getting a 30-mile range increase to 353 miles (568km ).

The other versions of the vehicle also got range increase:
  • Tesla Model 3 Standard Range Plus: now 263 miles up from 250 miles
  • Tesla Model 3 Performance: now 315 miles up from 299 miles
A source familiar with the matter told Electrek that Tesla has equipped new Model 3 vehicles with a new “efficiency package” that improves on Tesla’s already industry-leading efficiency and resulting in the longer range.

We will know more about the improved efficiency once the EPA test results will come out.
The new Model 3 is also getting all of the features that we confirmed in previous reports, like a powered trunk, new double-paned windows, and several aesthetic changes.

As expected, Tesla adopted the chrome delete like it did for the Model Y.

The interior is seeing the bigger change with the new metallic finish steering wheel, which is now apparently heated, and the new center console:
Tesla has completely updated the Model 3 wheel lineup with slightly updated 18″ and 19″ wheel designs, and they brought the new 20’’ Überturbine Wheels to the sedan:
Tesla has also brought back the auto-dimming mirror to the Model 3 with this 2021 refresh.

All versions are also getting quicker 0-60 mph accelerations — most notably the Model 3 Performance has shaved another tenth of a second at now 3.1 seconds to get to 60 mph.

There are also some smaller changes, like a graphite trim near the seat control, that will require the car on hand in order to get a better look at it, and we expect that there are quite a few other changes “under the hood” that we are going to learn about as they deliver the vehicle in the coming weeks.

Stay tuned. The new versions of the Model 3 has been coming off the production line in Fremont for the past few weeks, but the first vehicles were meant for international markets, and now Tesla started producing it for the North American market.

Doesn't matter. They sell every single car they make. They have a waiting list waiting for the factory to produce the car. Demand is the least of their issues right now.

Strange comment, as pointed out demand greatly exceeds supply.
Model S was much better styled.
Was?
