Tesla Model 3 (merged megathread)
The simple solution would be to hold drivers to higher standard, both when licensing and when it comes to driving violations. We've discussed this topic in depth a few years ago in a big thread called automated ticketing. I wouldn't mind if cars were equipped with a device that scans your drivers license to verify that its valid before the car can be put in drive.
Yes and no. Tesla has built a flawed technology with misleading name that is encouraging and enabling idiots to carry out their most extreme and dangerous stupidity. I have no problem with them weeding themselves out to natural selection, but I am concerned for other road uses, especially pedestrians and bikers who are not protected by tons of metal. I've said this before and I'll say it again - I hope a high profile lawsuit puts this self driving nonsense to rest.

"Self driving" doesn't exist yet. It is more accurate to say that humans driving cars equipped with driver assist systems are safer than humans driving cars that do not.
It really makes no difference to me what happens to Tesla. If I did my arithmetic correctly, they will struggle as more manufacturers get on board with EVs and Tesla will have more profitably issues in the future.
If there was no full self driving to begin with, then there is nothing to fool or trick. People just need to drive carefully, drive the speed limit, don’t drink and drive and refrain from texting.
Care to share this math? Tesla will roughly double their sales this year, when will they start to struggle?
^^^^ Good response, Jill. Yep, the loss of the Stellantis (Chrysler) carbon-credit payments definitely will not help. That also suggests, to me, that we may not see the Hemi-powered Chrysler products (a major reason for those carbon-credit payments) in production much longer, despite their popularity and good sales numbers.

Not Tesla's fault that idiots will do what idiots will do.
