C'mon man, I enjoy his blunt assessments, don't put a monkey wrench in the machine. As long as I'm not included, I'm totally cool with it

Exactly, I don't see what can be "better" about a yoke. You can decide its fine and that it doesn't bother you, but what is BETTER?

i'd put the likelihood of you in a plaid at very low.
I would put it pretty low, but not very low. I have always liked the Model S. Call it, 30% lol

I'd put it way less than 30%. The regular Model S long range at $90-100k is about as fast as the fastest Taycans which is still nosebleed fast. You'd probably get one of those instead

Taycan is way too small for me, and range isn't where I would want it to be. I would absolutely choose a Model S over a Taycan

Model S is a way better choice over the Taycan. It's a very comfortable car, not S-class or LS comfortable, but good. My brother in law has owned two of them, and he is about to buy out his lease on his current one. He's a CEO of a medical device company, so drives a lot to meet investors, etc, and he's never had any issues with range or driving comfort. He's extremely picky, so this has to be a very good car for him to buy it out from the lease. I would've definitely considered one, but I just don't want to spend that kind of money

Understood but I'm saying you would most likely just get the Long Range Model S over the Plaid version. I was just commenting that it would be way less than 30% for you to pick a Plaid. Probably 30% you would pick a regular Ling Range Model S instead. Unless you want a 1000hp that is vs the measly 750hp from the Long Range.

Honestly, I wouldn't know what to do with 750hp...

my understanding is tesla does not provide a buy out option on a lease. i guess he'll be turning it in, then just buying it as a used car, somehow.

I'm not sure how he's doing it. He's buying it out because his current lease is coming up soon, and availability on another S is 6 to 8 months out

That's the explanation then. Even if it wasn't the case, with the long wait times I'm sure exceptions would be made. One of my coworkers has a Model 3 on order, ETA got pushed from Feb, to March, and yesterday to April. He was thinking of cancelling and looking into a PoleStar where ETA is less than a month

Is a Model 3 Performance he ordered or another model? If it was a 3P you could usually get those in a few weeks.

patgilm, i think you're the only plaid owner on CL (congrats again).

i just watched another plaid review and every time i watch it i cringe watching people steer with the yoke. at very low speeds ok, but the ratio just seems off... i watched someone going round a roundabout and having to spin that yoke around maybe 150-180 degrees just seemed so awkward.

of course reviewers say you get use to it, and sure, i get that, but it still seems really suboptimal, especially with the capacitive buttons in easily brushed places. not using the airbag for the horn like on every other car is a safety hazard imo.

so give me your latest thoughts not only on the yoke but the steering effort/ratios, etc. as well.

the only upside i see is being able to see the gauges more easily, but if tesla wasn't so cheap and put a hud in the car, that wouldn't be an issue.

thanks.
