Yes but I'd rather have the more powerful car that would toast them in any other normal driving situations. I'd rather have instantaneous torque and horsepower vs. a better handler. The Plaid is much much much faster than those cars in any other non track situation. I'll take the Plaid please
And what was the lap time for this production Plaid around the Nurburgring?
7:35 which is good but obviously behind the leaders. The Plaid though is a pretty softly sprung family sedan so top notch handling is not its forte. Obviously if I put up quarter mile times, the Plaid would smoke them easily but that's what's it's good at. I don't see the point of beating this dead horse. It's doesn't handle as good as the leaders but is faster than all of them in a straight line. So yes, EVs have surpassed ice in some areas
Weird that it got worse in 2020. Lets hope the new Model S with all new electronics does much better.
My guess is that early Tesla S models have very low data rates as it was really new to market in 2012. Now that the S is established, there probably is more buyers reporting their feedback.

And yet the 2016 S I have has had 2 issues so far - a door handle failed and an electronic suspension control module that failed.

So, it's a one trick pony? Got it!
Anyone can make a dragster but it takes real engineering to make a car handle a corner.
You said the Plaid that set the EV sedan record on the Nurburgring was not stock. That is not correct.
Now, you're just putting words in my mouth. I said the Plaid that set a lap around the Nurburgring was not stock. Perhaps, I should have been more specific. I was referring to the Plaid that lapped the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 13 seconds.
