So if I’m doing 185 mph on the autobahn in my suv , which is a real road, not a limited length drag strip, are you going to tell me you’re going faster in a plaid at it’s top speed? Did you read what Car and Driver said about going 162 mph in a plaid? Are you going to catch up? How do you catch up on the Nurburgring with a slower time than a 911 Carrera S? Why do you set a limited length straight line limit to a plaid race….I wonder why? Your kid wants a Bugatti…smart kid.

The issue is both sides of the argument move the goalposts around to fit their argument. Exotic and performance car owners who are threatened by the Plaid's acceleration and irritated about the attention it gets try and redefine what the words "fast" and "speed" mean, and its funny. First its not about drag strip times, its about Nürburgring times, then its no longer about that, its about highest speed on the Autobahn...

The reality of it is, the only benefit to driving a fast car short of bragging about it and using it as a way to measure the length of your manhood is how fun it can be to pull quick bursts of acceleration in traffic throughout your day...and the Plaid and other fast EVs really excel at that...I would wager Plaid owners have just as much fun if not moreso with their cars day to day than anybody driving any of these other cars...and they can actually drive them day to day and use them as practical cars. Hard to do that with a Ferrari or a Lamborghini...

SW17LS Is a Cayenne Turbo coupe or a Turbo GT not practical? When have you driven any Porsche, Lamborghini, or Ferrari to know how much fun it is to drive? Minivans and luxury barges don’t count. What performance cars have you owned?

I live in the US, the chances of me driving a Plaid on the autobahn or the Nurburgring is not even 0.1%, it’s literally 0%. In the US many cars are governed by manufacturers, both of my BMWs limited the top speed of my cars but have a much higher limiter, if any, in Europe.

Sure a Cayenne Turbo or Turbo GT is Practical, and nowhere near as fast as the Plaid nor do they deliver the ridiculous EV acceleration experience it does...and a Turbo GT is way more expensive than a Plaid. They are also not unassuming, and their power surprises no one. I have driven many Porsches and while I haven't driven "many" Lamborghinis or Ferraris I have driven several. The point is, you don't daily drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini to work and to pick up your dry cleaning, you do that in a Plaid yet it also will do 0-60 in 1.9 seconds, and 99% of people have no idea it can do that. Thats why its so cool.

I have never owned a performance car because I have no desire to own a performance car. I would also never buy a Plaid. Just not my thing, doesn't mean I don't recognize why they are so fun. I would 100% buy a Plaid before I would ever buy a Cayenne Turbo GT or a Ferrari or a Lamborghini. If you offered me any of them for free...I would honestly take the Plaid. The Cayenne doesn't do anything for me, and what am I going to do with a Ferrari or Lamborghini?! Everybody who buys a Plaid could buy a Cayenne Turbo or Turbo GT...along with many builds of a 911, etc. Many to most of them could buy a Ferrari or Lamborghini. Yet...they bought a Plaid.

And again remember, this doesn't bother you....you've just now spent several hours arguing about it. It does bother you just admit that. It shouldn't, like what you like. The fact you clearly think my cars are dumb doesn't bother me on any level whatsoever. I could buy almost any car I want, yet here I am.

If and when the Roadster 2, waaaay overdue, is produced, current Supercars will be old and slow... The Roadster 2 will destroy Nurburgring!

So you’ve never owned a performance vehicle. I thought so. Thanks for chiming in with your expertise. People have no idea a Plaid can do 0-60 in 1.9? What??? Are you hiding under a rock? Ever hard of YouTube? Or Car magazines? It’s not a secret. A Cayenne Turbo or Turbo GT isn’t unassuming huh. Not a bad daily either. You think it’s easy to get a Turbo GT? Or anything but a base 911? That shows how much you know.

Clearly, you spend your life on here arguing with people about vehicles you have little to no experience with. You could buy almost any car huh…yet there you are. Never said your cars are dumb, putting words into peoples mouths again.

The Telsa Plaid is a special vehicle. I have a few friends that own the vehicle. Trust me they can't afford a Ferrari, Lambo, or most high-end Porsches. As much as I love the speed. It's not a vehicle I would take to an autocross or track day. Maybe one day I will purchase one for my daily commute. I would mind seeing the car in more colors.

I don't need to have owned a performance car to know how they perform.

People have no idea what a Plaid is. Most people out on the street know nothing about cars, and they think a Plaid is just one of the zillions of Teslas they see every day. When they see a Cayenne, they know its a Porsche and they know its fast. The sleeper nature of the Plaid is whats so fun.

"Easy to get"? Huh? Its not easy to get any car right now including a Plaid. My point is they can afford those cars but choose not to buy them.

I'll put my experience with cars up against anybody's anyday. And if the forum is such a waste of time why are you here? Move along.

A Plaid is a $140,000 car. Unless your friends are using every nickel they have to be able to scrape and pay for their Plaid, they can buy a wide variety of cars.

I can pretty much say this with confidence, 99.9 percent of Plaid buyers have no intention of tracking their car, and didn't buy it for that reason. It depends on the Plaid buyer, there are many Lambo and Ferrari owners that do also own a Plaid. Plaid buyers are wealthy, some have Lambo money, some don't, but they are at least affluent. The CEO of my company is extremely wealthy and could easily buy any of those cars mentioned but he bought a Model S (non plaid). We all know that Lambos, Ferrari, high end Porsches are special cars, no doubt, but so is the Plaid. It may not have the heritage of the other supercars, but it is nonetheless a special, crazy car that can be multiple things at once

Sorry, no Tesla is a sleeper now. Is there a slow model? Did I say it’s a waste of time? Putting words in peoples mouths again. Now you are just being rude.

I like cars I can drive every day. Thats why the Plaid would appeal to me before a Lambo or Ferrari would. I don't have any desire to have a bunch of different cars that I have to worry about housing and taking care of etc. Hence why I don't like performance cars, I don't want to drive around a stiff, firm overwrought car when most of the time I'm just driving up and down the highway every day. If I wanted to own multiple cars and I didn't have to drive it every day then sure I'd buy a performance car.

You've been plenty rude.

And yes, Teslas are sleepers. 99% of people have no knowledge about cars and have no idea that a Tesla can be that fast.

I'm sure... there are a lot of wealthy people that buy a Camry or Accord.
Every person that owns a Plaid isn't wealthy. I can easily buy a Plaid and I'm not wealthy. Just well off. Yes, I concur that the Plaid is very special...
