Tesla Model S Plaid
The 911 is a sports car so comparing it with a 4 door, fast luxury sedan is kinda Apples and Oranges. I don't think most people buying Plaids are looking to track the car. Saying the Plaid isn't fast is just stupid semantics. Sure the top speed is only about 175mph governed due to the tires but in most situations outside of the track and the unrestricted Autobahn, almost everything will just get smoked. Also, the 911 S base is $117k but a couple options in and you are looking at the price of a Plaid easily...lets not kid ourselves. Porsche is very very expensive.

If you think the full potential of the 911 S is to get the fastest on time on the Ring, then yes, the Sport Chrono is the only feature you need (i've never seen a spec so low though). I doubt the Plaid owner has that same goal though...his is to beat the crap out of every car between 0-120mph and carry all the groceries he can buy at the local Costco in between the Porsche beat downs. This is why its such a ridiculous comparison. In the mind of the Plaid owner, he's already won all the races...complete utter embarrassment of anything on the street. In the mind of the Porsche owner, he's probably thinking they'll smoke it at the Ring...but of course, Plaids just don't go tracking very often (if at all). So yes, you are right in that the 911 S is faster on the Track. The Plaid is probably faster everywhere else.

You miss the point lol. Its simply hilarious that a 4 door luxury sedan can so effortlessly trounce these incredible cars off the line. The fact that we are even having this conversation is proof positive that the Plaid is hilarious.
So you think the owners of those incredible cars are embarrassed? Or would trade them for a Plaid? A Porsche Cayenne Turbo Coupe SUV that can go offroad will go a faster top speed than a Tesla Plaid. That's not hilarious? You guys need to write to the auto mags telling them to get rid of every stat except acceleration. Everything else is meaningless says the Tesla fans. That Ford vs. Ferrari movie should have been a drag racing movie I guess?

Is the Plaid owner illegally street racing? It's illegal to street race or speed. How is stop light racing more legal than freeway racing at high speeds? Both illegal. He might not make it to Costco for those groceries if he goes to jail. The Tesla owner better keep it on the drag strip.
I have yet to meet a Plaid owner (or even a fast car owner) that has taken their car to the track (including many many many Porsche owners).
Oh please...lets not be naïve here. Very few Plaid owners (or other high end super fast car owners) take their cars to a track. They use their speed on on-ramps, street lights, and general speeding on highways. They also do the occasional canyon runs and high speed passes in remote desert areas of Texas.

Respectfully, you and I have different priorities. I can care less about top speed, because I just don't care about going any faster than 80 on the freeway. In fact I really don't care about beating you or anyone else light to light. What I find fascinating though is your seemingly unwillingness to accept that the Plaid is a fast car, although it can wipe most cars out at the dragstrip. And then convert instantly to an amazing daily
. That car had cheap consumables too. I would never ever track my 4 door family sedan though...just not much fun. What is fun is mashing that throttle and doing a quick 0-60 on an on-ramp in 2 seconds
...thats my point. The Plaid is completely bonkers as a daily driver.

Your reaction to this though implies that you are in fact embarrassed lol. If the fact that the Plaid could do this didnt bother you, it wouldn't make you so angry.
