Let's see what the refresh holds. The old Model S was never a great handler. The new Plaid is supposedly breaking records at Laguna Seca and it's now being tested at Nurburgring.

That means it will sell like crazy. I know that's your point but I am convinced Jill says the opposite of what she believes for effect.

I didn’t say it would flop.

Let’s not make it personal. Just trying to focus on the car

Anytime A car models been out for so long, it is quite difficult to increase sales. Whatever the record was for the S sales, likely will not be surpassed. I think the S has been out for like nine years, that’s a long time and their sales peak was years ago. The point of these expensive Tesla S models, is to increase the profit margin. And that is a good idea, so It have a lower sales are higher margin’s

All the brands are doing this. The Plaid is like 2X the price of the base model. Just like how a RCF Track is 2X the price of the RC base. I don’t think they will sell A LOT them. But some.

I'm talking about your opinion and posting style, nothing against you personally. When people call me a PR shill for Tesla and all that it's fine, they are talking about my posts.

I didn’t call you a PR shill.

wasn't talking about competition, just saying $160K is a lot to spend on a car. if you're into blazing fast speed, ok. but it's still no luxury car. i'd say the new interior looks worse than before.

if all you care about is bragging rights and straight line EV acceleration, sure. until something inevitably comes along that's even faster.

Nothing really competes with the Plaid as its more premium sport vs. luxury sport and its much much more powerful than the Taycan Turbo S.
agreed.

$160k fully loaded with taxes doesn't seem too expensive for the having a toy car thats probably the fastest accelerating production daily driver ever made (at least in the quarter mile).
if that's your thing, sure. i dropped 100k on an LC which i've told everyone was a complete waste of money but i have no regrets.

Again, a toy for the rich thats a relative bargain compared to other supercars.
indeed. i just wish the interior was nicer. the taycan and etron-gt destroy the model S in that regard but if all you care about is driving a missile, then go for it.

Styling is subjective, what people consider luxury is also. I personally think the Taycan interior is dreadful and will age poorly. It's already happening the more I see it the worse it looks. But that is opinion, like you saying the S is not a luxury car.

t.
I always thought the S was a luxury car. I remember seeing it at the Tesla Store in the mall for the first time. The way they did things were so different, that is what made them stand out. I think if they made a traditional style interior, most consumers would just ignore a Tesla. I do think it’s a great idea that they have the screen behind the steering wheel as well as the one in the middle. Not sure I think the single screen of the three or the Y are a great idea

Jobs was in the drivers seat with Apple in 1997.

At the Launch event, they launched multiple cars run after run and didn't lose power as they solved the heat issues. Also, most electric motors have back EMF so run out of steam at higher rpm. Tesla solved this with carbon fiber sleeves and now the horsepower curve is flat. At 200mph, its still producing over a 1000 horsepower. They still haven't released any info on the battery improvements but interested to see whats changed.

From what I can gather the power gains come from better motors, better software and cooling. The battery pack itself is also new has the cells arranged differently and there is about 200 pounds in weight reduction. I am disappointed we didn't get the 4680 cells, wouldn't make the car faster by much if at all but substantially better range.

Can't complain though Tesla now has the fastest car on the road and the fastest car ever make. What more can you ask for?

not doubting what you write, but why will the 4680 cells product better range? I thought they're just bigger cells. Or is it some kind of different chemistry?

'Fastest' should be qualified. Fastest accelerating maybe, but a bugatti chiron for example is way faster in top speed. https://www.bugatti.com/chiron/

Not knocking the plaid though, it's a remarkable achievement and i enjoyed elon musk's very quirky presentation.
