Ford still has the gas F-150s for those people. This is just another option that will appeal to people who want an around-town electric truck. I don't get the heartache about Ford putting this out there as an option. Don't want one? Don't buy it. Plenty of other people will. Options are good to have.

 

 

Its not like Ford needs huge incentives to sell this thing. They are practically sold out for the next 2 years. Sounds like EV sales will stall...due to lack of supply

 

No it doesn't. It can't tow. It can be used continually. It can't be used for distance. It is not compatible with aftermarket gear.

 

IMO. The hybrid F150 is a superior choice. Makes far more sense.

Thing I do not like about hybrids. The added complexity for later in life…years 10-20 worry me.

 

Is anybody surprised that certain people don't like this truck? Its pointless to even argue with them about it all it does is drag the thread down to another pro vs anti EV slugfest.

 

We're outliers. Average ownership is what, 9 or 10 years? Most people drive 10-12k miles a year, so it's not a big deal for most. They'll dump the car before any issues arise.

 

My business partner has a deposit down on this to replace his Ram, I'm interested to see if he goes through with it. This is really perfect for his needs.

 

You don’t keep your cars long. I do. I don’t want added complexity later in life. A hybrid 4Runner would have been a big turnoff for me and my latest purchase . More to go wrong later .(same goes for turbos) So that is how I see a Ford Hybrid truck. You also have inflationary issues when you add EV components, a Ford hybrid is how much more than a gas 150? The full BEV F150 is how much more?

I wasn't talking about you. All the usual anti-EV suspects have chimed in that they don't like this...and that should surprise no one. They wont like ANY EV. Has nothing to do with complexity later in life.

If I were buying one, I would buy a gas one. Range isn't there for me for EV yet. For my partner though, he parks it in front of his garage so its easy for him to charge, and we have chargers at the office. He never travels in it, they travel in his wife's Palisade. Its perfect for him.

 

As @SW17LS mentioned, it's pointless to argue further on this because you seem to be continually denying reality (reality being it can tow up to 10,000 LBS) and it's not compatible with aftermarket gear, which is completely false because any aftermarket gear that works with the regular F-150 is compatible with the Lightning, which is mentioned in the review video I posted. So until you guys face reality, we should probably move on to other subjects we maybe can agree on

 

Yeah you can tow all you want, but you're only getting 50 miles of range. That's what he meant by it.

 

You already know what it would take for me to like one. I do not want to regress in lifestyle or ownership rights or capability. I'm more than happy to wait till this is possible and other people can play around with beta products.
