quick update, i've now had the santa fe for 2 years. i have about 18,000 miles on it.
i really have nothing bad to say about it.
i've done a couple of updates to the infotainment system - their website (https://update.hyundai.com/US/EN/Main) which made the android auto i use work much better (uses full screen now), and it seems like hyundai's own voice controls works better (faster, smarter) but i could be imagining that.
nothing mechanically has gone wrong. on my last oil change they said they had to do a recall item, something to do with transmission reprogramming, and i did notice it seemed smoother shifting after.
as far as 'utility' i've been very pleased with it's roominess, although it's no giant 3 row suv (it's only 2 row). i love the way the rear cargo area floor is removable to reveal loads of compartments under. i use those for computer parts like cables, keyboards, etc.
the 2.5T is plenty quick enough. sport made makes the throttle MUCH more responsive and rpm's stay higher, but i don't use it too often.
one feature i've used a few times which i didn't know it had when i got it is 'HDA' which is highway driving assist. this works on major roads like interstates and allows you to take your hands off the wheel for longer periods (a couple of minutes easy) when on adaptive cruise. this is very nice.
one feature that still makes me chuckle is if i'm checking my phone at a light for example, and i don't notice the light's gone green and the car ahead has left, the car will beep to let you know. i'd rather the car let me know than the person behind me honking their horn.
the lane keep assist is WAY better than that on my lexus. the lexus system while better than nothing is sloppy and won't keep the car centered in the lane. the hyundai will.
finally, the audio system on the hyundai is surprisingly great, better than the mark levinson system in the lexus.
for about $44k when i got it, this car was a bargain. i leased it though and lease will be up next feb, so decisions, decisions (buy it or go to something else).
Nice! Yea H/K/G LKA is so damn good. Same software in my 2022 Stinger as your SUV and compared to the prior system in my old 2018 model, it really doesn't ping pong at all. The old system was good, but the improvements are drastic across the board. I love the automatic slowing down for curves and resuming to your set speed once you're out of the turn. They thought of a lot with this system. It's very impressive.
Also FYI, HDA will allow automatic start from a dead stop without pressing resume on steering wheel or foot on accelerator. Almost perfect for highway traffic jams. Even with HDA activated IMO it still can go for a good amount of time without having to touch the steering wheel.
