msrp on both was $85-$87k.

both were fully optioned (hud, levinson, one had illuminated door sills, other did not). Pretty standard spec honestly. I don’t think I’ve seen any non levinson, non hud GSF.

Both GSF and M340i tested on the unrestricted German Autobahn. Lexus GSF 477 hp, 0-250 km/h 23.35 secs, BMW M340i xDrive 374 hp 0-250 km/h 29.68 secs

I hope this is not RX plug-in Hybrid edition 🤷‍♂️
Like JDR76 said, the direction Lexus is moving in will be to tie F-Sport to higher power engines. What you are citing right now are the remnants of their past F-Sport philosophy which was F-Sport as appearance and suspension package only.

This is actually great for Lexus enthusiasts as an IS500 F-sport will more attainable than an ISF even if both have the same V8. Same for an LS650 F-Sport vs an LSF.

I suspect true F cars will be bonkers crazy in order to qualify for the full F badging as opposed to an F-Sport designation.

M340 0-60 in 3.8s and quarter mile in low 12s. A lateral grip of 0.96 is also pretty good. All this for about $65k MSRP and interior volume isn't much different than the Lexus GS. For $90k MSRP, I expect more. The GSF is more mid 4s per article below. Yes you can argue the GSF is more visceral and I won't argue it but seems objectively, slower than a lowly M340 on non autobahn metrics.

Isn't it more a function of the low end torque characteristics of a turbo engine vs a NA V8 and AWD traction letting the M340i get of the line faster but at the higher speeds, the M340i engine runs out of puff and the higher hp of the GSF takes over? Thus the GSF catching up and spanking the M340i at Autobahn speeds.

So you're saying the M340i is a better redlight to redlight racer and by that metric, you claim it's a better performance vehicle? I mean, you can persist in your viewpoint (non-Autobahn metric lol) but I feel it's only fair that I present the full picture.

So you’re saying any Tesla is a better performer than either a GSF or an M340i or even an M3 or many Porsches?

you should go drive an m340i and then go drive a GSF, ideally a 2016. They are worlds apart.

The non AWD M340 is a low 12 second car and through the quarter mile it traps higher than the GSF so not sure if the GSF will spank it at higher speeds. Maybe it does well above 120 but who knows.

I used to have two of these as well. They were CDN specs. I traded one for a simpler RCF TE.

I don't know why we are comparing speeds above 120mph which is impractical on any road except the Autobahn. Sure the GSF is faster above 120mph due to its higher horsepower but in any other situation under 120mph, the M340 is faster. It's also faster around a track due to its broader powerband too if you compare VIR numbers from C&D (3:03 vs 3:06) although neither will probably be tracked. Just saying $25k is a lot of money separating the two and no performance advantage.

I'm not doubting the GSF drives better as it has a good reputation on that front. I'm just pointing out the objective performance difference between the two cars and their relative price differences.

I understand.

objectively, a Tesla model 3 performance is faster than both at $50k (w/ tax saving), $55k without. So maybe that’s the best performing car option ? Lol.

these “objective” metrics are oftentimes pointless and a **** measuring contest drummed up by auto companies that don’t necessarily mean that one car is a better performer while the other isn’t.

watch the video below.

I've seen this video before. I think everyone knows that 0-60 is flawed so thats why i brought up quarter mile which actually a better metric. The two cars are close enough where the guy with the better reaction time will win to 60mph. C&D has both rated a 4.7s in 5-60 but the M340 does the quarter in 12.3s with a trap of 114mph while the GSF does it in 12.9s at 113mph. If the cars were equally priced, I completely agree that the GSF is a much better car. My only point is that Lexus messed up the pricing on the F cars as the MSRP should have been in the mid $70k range so most prospective buyers would pay in the high $60k range for the car. Its a big turnoff for a prospective buyer to look at the $90k MSRP and then compare it to the monster M5 thats not that much more.

BTW, that Model 3 has a 5-60mph time of 3.5s which isn't much slower than their 0-60 of 3.2s. Crazy EV torque.

Where are the sources for this rumor?
What about IS350 Fsport or LS500 Fsport- these are discontinued? 😂

Makes ZERO sense.
What are they calling Sport appearance package Fsport light lol

yeah I agree on paper it seems ridiculous that MSRP is $90k but as stated earlier in the thread many buyers got GSFs for 15-20%, some a little more.

you can get a 2020 GSF for low $70k. I bought mine for $67k. No brainer to get a GSF at that price point.

unless you’re getting a m340i w/ a 20% discount GSF is the better buy, plus it’ll hold its value better if you’re planning on keeping it, factor in build quality and rarity. Gsf all day long.
