Default Warning about Cooper Tires

I made a small video on a recently disappointing experience with Cooper Tires, I hope it helps you in some way.

Thanks for posting. Based on your story, I agree Cooper could have been a little more accommodating of your request, but, if you got 30,000 miles out of that set of tires, I've certainly seen lots worse.

I am actually surprised you posted this video. Cooper makes great tires and has been around For many many years because they make great tires. I don’t doubt your experience, however you have no proof other than your word that you only got 30,000 miles out of the tires. Cooper needed dealer verification or third party verification and they didn’t or wouldn’t trust your third party verification as it’s not really third party. had you purchased them from a cooper dealer and installed at a cooper dealer they would have verified the entire time the mileage and would have honoured the warrant. When you discount buy tires online and have Indies install them this is exactly what happens. There is no verification and a lot of unscrupulous folks then ruin it for the honest ones.

I’ve learned this lesson well and now only buy from the local tire shop so it’s all on record and have never had a single issue.

sometimes it doesn’t pay to save a few $$

you got unlucky with the tread wear. Hopefully the Hancock’s last you a long time

Why? This is typical big corp scummy behavior. Make the warranty claim difficult enough to pursue and hopefully the customer just goes away.

The main point of contention, which OP repeatedly mentioned, is that at first Cooper insisted on having the dealer handle everything, but now several weeks later they're insisting that OP personally has to do everything. The total lack of transparency followed by a complete 180 is a reasonable gripe.

I agree that is scummy big corp behaviour, but I also know that customers are a lot more scummy than they should be when it comes to warranty claims so when an Honest Chap like the OP comes along with a legitimate gripe he gets thrown to the weeds. Consumers for the most part, the majority are dishonest. It used to not be this way, and it adversely affects the honest ones, as it did in this case. Had there been third party verification along the way there would have been no issue, unfortunately when indy's installs "loose rubber" they just don't record keep like a dedicated tire shop does, so the brand of tire is rarely noted, mileage rarely noted, so when you go to verify mileage later on its simply a trust game and the majority of consumers are NOT trustworthy anymore. The op is offended and upset as he's obviously honest, however our world no longer rewards honesty. Need proof? watch the news.

What does lack of trust have anything to do with this? You didn't address anything I mentioned in my last post, which is the main point of contention OP had with the company.

You seem like you just have an axe to grind with "dishonest" consumers. To suggest "the majority" of all consumers are dishonest is pretty farfetched.

to the OP, what's the treadwear on the coopers? was it comparable to the michelins, hankooks, etc? i always wondered how much folks actually get to the mileage warranty since our driving styles and conditions differ so greatly.

what online tire retailer did you use? i'm thinking if it was tire rack that they should be able to help you!

I've gotten 60-65k miles on every other set of tires on that vehicle for 307k miles.

Great Vid you did.....Hopefully a few ppl learned that there are things that shouldn't be bought on ebay or similar. As you know Tirerack being online you would of had a better outcome. Yea, possibly you are busy doing regular hours, but I'd think if you wanted to go forward with this, I'd take the hour or whatever to get take the tires over to the dealer. Yea possibly you should have got 50k or so. A couple cars I used to have, I've only got 30k out of them, I went threw 3 sets of Continentals......Extreme contacts, dws & dws06 w/ in 90K....One of my trucks I've had to switch out the Goodyear's ever 30-33k as well....I've been using Discount tires for decades w/ no problems. As you know there are somethings in life that it doesn't pay to cut costs....As well as your time, Many ppl don't take into account of their time as your time is worth something that you could be going something else with......
