What makes Rodents eat on wires and what can be done to keep them away?

Newer cars have soy covered wires that they like. They do not like Moth *****.

Moth ***** do not deter mice. Neither do dryer sheets, hot pepper spray etc. in fact none of the deterrents are effective. You have to trap them, or get a pet that hunts them. Source: Shawn Woods on Youtube he tests every kind of animal trap and deterrent known to man.

Good timing this came out a few days ago. Looks like there is a product that is at least partially effective. Maybe there are others but this is the first time I've seen a non lethal product that does reasonably deter mice. Downside is it will stink up your car or whatever space you put it in.

That green friendly soy based insulator makes them appealing chew toys. One of the past discussions somewhere there was mention that manufacturers we adding a bittering agent to the insulators to make them less appealing.

As far as dealing with them, park the car in a garage that is well prepared to resist rodents. If that is not available having an alternate appealing food source that diverts them may help. The A24 or A18 pneumatic traps are efficient.

i personally found peppermint oil to work on my rodent into the engine bay problem, but that's bc my car was parked outside. inside you can control their entry points and/or trap them.
