Although because of low sales, reliability figures for Maserati products are not available at organizations like Consumer Reports, the brand, in general, like other Italian brands, does not have a good reputation.

Maybe this will help : a simplified decision tree

buy the car

1) --for yourself

2) --to aid your business (realtor)

3) --doesn't impact your finances much, important in precarious times like these. Not sure how the property market is like in USA but Covid has affected everything

German car (MB S class)-- fulfills 1) but may affect 2) and 3) adversely

German car (A8) -- fulfills neither and may still adversely affect 2) and 3)

ES -- doesn't fulfill 1) but may help 2) and less impact on 3)

keep the LS -- fulfills 1) and 2) and 3)

EDIT : I read that you asked a friend who is a realtor also and he said an S class doesn't affect his perception by clients. Keep in mind that as a fellow realtor, you are COMPETITION and anything that affects your business helps him. I would rather see how fellow realtors act rather than what they say. So maybe observe what the majority of realtors in the USA drive and work from that.

Yeah what’s the fun in that? LOL

As for my friend who’s my “competition” it’s not like that. There are so many people buying and selling houses and so many agents and brokers we very, very rarely ever compete with each other directly. I have other realtors who are my dear friends also.

Wife has a Ghibli and we got a quatroporte as a loaner once. It's a very nice car to drive but the tech is old.

What's crazy is that real estate prices have gone up and the highest it's ever been in so-cal. Turns out the pandemic has created demand for houses because people are stuck at home all day and the inventory has dried up as people aren't going to put their house for sale during these times.

It’s the same way here. It’s totally nuts.

If you're looking for a quote on your trade-in try carvana.com Apparently, right now they're offering crazy high dollar amounts for cars. It doesn't hurt to try.

As far as European Delivery, BMW has started to end that program. This article said orders had to be in by May? Not sure if they extended that. It was my plan to do this for my 40th birthday, considering that's 10 years out, I guess I'll never get to do it.

Quietest car around with air suspension.... Tesla Model S? With all options you're well below either A8 or S-class. You'll run circles around them and never have to pay for gas again.

But then you'd be driving a Tesla.

The Model S is way louder at speed than any of these cars. It’s not especially quiet at all. I’ve driven it. I also hate the interior, and I’m not ready for all electric.

Kind of in a holding pattern until I get my LS back, which hopefully will be next week.

The result was pretty bad, rear trunk lid is destroyed and has to be replaced, which needs to be blended into the quarter panels which basically means 1/4-1/3rd of the car has to be repainted. Its at the best shop in town, but I honestly don't know what the result is going to look like, so I have been actually shopping and running numbers where I've looked and driven things more in abstract before.

So, today I drove an S560 and an A8 60 (the V8) back to back on the same course. I had kind of decided that if I do this I was going to go for the S560, but after driving that V8 A8 right behind it...I don't know. I love the S Class, but I actually think the A8 rides better and is a little quieter, even being on 20s vs 19s on the MB. It may come down to tires, the A8 was on Pirelli P7 Plus' which I have on my Lexus and the MB is on Continental run flats which are said to be coarse and loud. The Audi is also cheaper (S560 $122k A8 60 $111k), and the interior is finished better. With Mercedes you can't get an alcantara headliner for instance without the exclusive Nappa option which very few cars have, I have that in my LS and would miss it. The A8 though however has a beautiful one. A8 is bigger in the back seat area too. I like the styling of the S560 better inside and out, I prefer the non touchscreen to touchscreens too, and the ones in the A8 get full of fingerprints but I gotta say...I think the A8 drives better. I think the A8 is a little too bland, and I don't love the FWDish large front overhang, while the S Class' proportions are perfect IMO. A8 is a handsome car though, especially in this sort of color. Being a little less flashy is not necessarily a bad thing either.

Waiting on lease numbers on the A8, but I have a deal worked out on the S560 that satisfies me. Its more money than I ever envisioned paying for a car...but you only live once I suppose. Entirely possible the A8 will be just as expensive or more to lease because of their poor residuals, but residuals on the S Class are pretty poor. Good deals on the S Class were not forthcoming, had to really work it with the opening offers being like $5k off $6k off, well..you see the sticker on the side of the A8 lol.

These are the two cars, what do you guys think?

Love the color and proportions of the S class! I’ve heard really good things about the A8 however, and really like the understated styling. My only issue with the A8 is the two touchscreen situation. Seems like a fingerprint nightmare and a potential headache. Both cars are very nice though imo the S class in this color looks a little better.

That’s crazy! BMW does usually have really good lease deals though. I’m a BMW guy myself, but that grill ain’t pretty. Rest of the car looks really sharp tho imo and I like the mix of one touchscreen w/I drive controller plus buttons vs the A8’s dual touchscreens.
