When you are paying this much per month you should get what you really want, especially when the upcoming new model’s interior looks like it does. It could be the last model S-class for a while that SW likes for all we know so an extra couple hundred a month would be worth it.

Agreed, it's Steve's money......but I still think that, in that class, the Genesis G90 or Kia K900 is worthy of consideration. Both are very impressive for the money. However, it's hard to beat the S-class for its safety features.....Mercedes and Volvo wrote the book in that department.

just curious, what safety features does a current s-class have that a g90 does not?

The structural rigidity of the S-Class unibody-frame (and the effectiveness of the crumple-zones) are arguably the best of any mass-production sedan in the industry, although I'll admit that the G90 has more solid-feeling sheet metal on the surface, and its doors give a more solid thunk when closing.

G90 has more bank vault feeling doors than S-Class?

One thing I will say, when the first Hyundai Genesis came out I noticed how good the door thud was.

In not too distant past, maybe 10 years ago or so, Korean cars always rated at the bottom when it came to newest crash test. Germans always ranked first and Japanese second.

so respectfully, if i understand, you have no actual data or source to say how one is safer than the other. i have no issue at all is an s-class is safer, i'd just like to know how. or even if not objectively safer, what safety features it might have that a g90 does not.

i can't find the s-class on iihs so here's the e-class

10 years is a long time.

The S class has been one of, if not the safest and most innovative vehicles in the entire automotive history, way before Genesis and even Hyundai even existed. Sorry, but I have much more trust with the engineers who designed the S class vs Huyndai engineers who never innovated anything.

Not saying that Genesis is a bad car, but its just not in the same league.

I'd buy that car in a second. From what I know the accidents were minor big picture wise. Frame bent or something, absolutely not.

That's not to say I look for a used car that's been in a wreck, though.
Yup - that was a joke. BUT - if the repairs get reported to Carfax, it really doesn’t matter how small they were. The resale value is going to tank big time. I had this happen with my ‘12 Jetta TDI. Ran over a chunk of truck tire on the highway resulting in $6k+ of damages (nothing structural, though). When I tried to trade the Jetta for my current Tundra, the dealer’s offer was laughable. In the end, I kept the Jetta (had a daughter that was getting her license within few months) and bought the Tundra anyway. Fast forward few years and the dieselgate hits - made out like a bandit by turning the Jetta in and getting ~80% of my original purchase price, which in turn paid for the LS460 we have now.

From what I understand, probably not much difference in the electronic safety-features, but, as Och pointed out, mostly in the frame and occupant-protection. One must remember that the S-Class was designed and built for routine cruising the Autobahn at triple-digit-speeds...it has to be able to deal with enormous G-forces in that kind of an impact.

But, you have a point.....virtually any luxury-grade sedan, today, particularly full-sized ones, is going to be quite impressive in that area.

Haha, thats pretty funny.

Nothing against the 7 Series, its just not something I really *want* that would make it worth it to take the hit and get out of my LS early, and I like this generation S Class specifically.

His ratings must have taken a hit.....or, he just got tired of listening to his loud ranting and arm-flailing. His most recent videos are FAR more sedate, calm, and tranquil in their speaking-manner., and he gets his points across just as well at a much lower decibel-level.
