just drove an Odyssey Elite, drives nice. Not as snazzy as the Pacifica but functional.

Was surprised by the poor fit and finish. Lots of cars have trim that doesn’t line up and is loose, popped up rain channels, etc. The carpeting in the second row is just basically split and open without the mats down. Pacifica is much better in that regard.

It drives nicer than the Pacifica IMHO, the drivetrain is more refined, the 10 speed auto is much better than the 9 speed. Pacifica has 30k mile Falken tires on it though, that may be a part of that. Noisewise, Pacifica is 63 db at 75 MPH, Odyssey is 64. The Pacifica definitely has better fit and finish, the paint finish is much better, Honda's paint on the Odyssey is kind of cheap and flat. Inside Pacifica has better materials. Pacifica has 2 screen rear entertainment vs one screen, panoramic roof vs regular sunroof on the Odyssey. The doors and all feel very light and cheap compared to the Pacifica. None of that bothers me or my wife really though given its a minivan.

Techwise is the issue for her, she really misses the surround view camera and the automatic parallel parking. She tried to parallel park it and it was a mess she's so accustomed to that. Now, she parallel parked vehicles for many years without automatic parking assist, so she would adapt. To me those things are a small tradeoff for having a vehicle that isn't constantly in the shop. For her, since that happens in the background and she just walks downstairs and all her stuff is in my car for her to use while the Pacifica is in the shop and I deal with it and rent a car and drive the ****ty enterprise rental car for a week while she drives my nice Lexus its not that big a deal to her. Frustrating.
That about sums up the Odyssey - competent and good enough. We still like ours. The Magic Slide seats are still my favorite feature especially when trying to get folks into the third row. Most annoying part of the car for me is that in my 2018 Elite (not sure if they changed with the refresh) only one side of the side view mirrors tilt down when I shift to R. You select which side goes down by toggling that side in the side view mirror adjustment

Definitely not a GX460, way smaller than what SW is looking for IMO. I’ve had both gens and there is not much room in either.

Agreed. I tried to make myself like the LX 570, but way too small inside. With the 3rd row seating that just folds up, it is small. Certainly can’t compare to a minivan for space. The LX is built very well and can last a long time, but I don’t think this is a consideration as they seem to lease all their cars and dump them after three years or so.

that's true. my spouse knows me well enough that he'd be able to purchase a car relatively sight-unseen by me and have me be a bit mad at the added expense but happy overall with the purchase. it just depends on how well your significant other knows your tastes in cars currently based on what's on the market, which sort of implies that they, too, are a car enthusiast and mine definitely is as well. we make a great couple. now if he'd just buy me that m240i that i've been waiting for...

Do you know when the 2021s come out? I can't find info online. Issue will be the leases will be awful. Not a lot of incentives on a Honda, and right now I can get about $6,500 off of one, the 2021 will be MSRP.

I know sliding doors is a must, but have you considered a Honda Pilot/MDX. MDX has a 7,200 discount off (not sure on the Pilot) and you`ll get the surround view coupled with Acura safety suite

MDX is too small inside and I don't care for the Pilot.

Have you ruled out waiting a few months for the all-new 2021 Sedona coming up? Or does the Pacifica have to be turned back in (end of lease-contract) before then?

I should have asked the Kia shop about that release-date a couple of days ago when I was looking at the new Seltos, but it slipped my mind....I was busy with the Seltos.

They are saying Q2 2021 for the Sedona, going to be well past the end of the Pacifica lease.

Thats the 2021 Sedona, thats the outgoing model, same one I had. We're talking about the all new 2022 Sedona.

Is brand new a "must" for you? If not, have you/would you consider something like a low mileage CPO Mercedes GLS450?

^^^ It's worth having a look, if you haven't already. They are pretty nice, good sized, and seem to be pretty reliable based on what I've been reading. I talked to a couple different indy Euro shops/mechanics (one who is exclusively MB) and hear good things about their reliability.

If i got my wife a minivan, or if my wife got me a minivan, it wouldn’t end well.

I've driven them, they're great, plenty of space. She's going to say no to the doors.

LOL. Don't get me wrong, I like the utility of the minivan too...its just as a car person I would rather have a car I enjoy looking at and driving.
