Just thought somebody might appreciate, Motor Week is playing old seasons in their entirety on YouTube, if you’re interested check out their YouTube channel. I’m watching 1987-1988 right now.

And yes Mike, we know you’ve met John Davis
He has well-earned his retirement, yet still plugs on. He apparently loves his work.
I just wish everybody in the auto-journalist-buisness was like him. He's a pleasure to meet and talk to. The Motorweek show itself, though, having to fit in Pat Goss and other short-segments on the show as well, didn't give him enough time on each particular vehicle to really get in depth, though, like Alex Dykes does on his reviews.

Here's a very interesting Motorweek retro-review that should bring back a lot of nice memories...and well-explains why this became a cult-vehicle. That Mariner Blue color is just stunning....by far my favorite Miata shade.
This is not an entire-show segment, though, like Steve was talking about.
Funny you bring this topic up, I have been watching some of the old retro reviews the past few weeks of cars I have owned in the past. My favorites are the comparison reviews like the 300ZX, Supra, RX-7 and 3000GT episodes.
I watched a segment last night about how you select a car phone. They were extolling how cheap they had gotten, where you can get one installed for as little as $1,200! $1,200 in 1988 is $2,700 today!
I remember my dad getting his first car phone around that time

Car phone was $2,500 in late 80s Cadillacs. That's insanity. But people wanted that damn antenna. I admit they were cool in their day.

My parents always had car phones installed back in the day. My dad had the factory cell phone on his 1993 LS400. I remember my dad would always "page" my mom on her pager and then she would call him on the car phone. The good old days LOL

Hah. My parents started out with the "bag phones" that you plugged in. We could take them out on the lake, etc.
Lovvvve MW! Been watching that as long as I remember watching TV. I hope they make all of that available to where you can view it at your leisure.
Anyone else notice, especially in older episodes, that they never seem to get 1/4 mile times and speeds right? 0-60 is usually pretty accurate.
Yeah I have noticed that the 1/4 mile times and speeds were different, even some of the 0-60 was off. The episodes I watched were mainly early to mid-90's cars and the MKIV Supra's times were off a bit and they even varied with the same model car (but different car) on a different test day (which makes sense since conditions and cars aren't always exact). I felt their Supra times were off (slower) compared to magazine tests of the same time frame.

Never had the cool antennas .
My parents had the bag phone too (used only for emergencies for the most part because it was kind of expensive to use back then) that I would use in the car as necessary but I always wanted a car phone with the cool swirly antenna.

Yes I think they got mid 5s for the old Supra?? Hello, that's supposed to be a test-track driver?? That car was well back into the 4s.

One of the tests had the Supra at 14.0 in the quarter mile at around 104mph I believe, which is probably the slowest published times I have seen. Some magazines had it around 13.7 at 107mph but several had it faster than that with one magazine hitting 12's but that was a hero run.
