They had one or two of them at the D.C. Auto Show, but off in a corner, without much attention on them.

Is anyone here on Car Chat interested in an MKZ, while they are still available? I signed up for the MasterCard Lincoln Test-Drive offer at the show, so I'll be doing a test-drive, on a Lincoln product, at the Lincoln dealer sometime in the next two months. if anyone is interested, I'll use the test-drive on one of the remaining MKZs in stock.

Well, I'm certainly no fan of killing off sedans, as many of you in Car Chat know already. But some things in life are simply beyond our control, and, on the subject of sedan-obituaries, I've come to the conclusion that life is simply too short to sit back and cry every time the bozos in marketing decide to take away one more sedan choice for customers or potential customers. If we all have to get used to crossovers in the future, so be it......and crossovers do have some advantages that sedans lack, particularly in ground clearance to avoid curbs/obstacles, sometimes easier entry/exit for tall persons, a more flexible cargo area in the rear, and (often) standard AWD for bad weather. They also often come with taller-profile tires for better impact-protection over sharp bumps and potholes.

Why so serious? This just the normal ebb and flow of the car business. One goes away and something else takes its place. It's been that way since the beginning.

Well, come on, let's not kid ourselves. We all know what is going to take the MKZ's place.....the Corsair. It was easily the star of the Lincoln display here at the D.C. show, though the Aviator was also attracting a crowd for those who want or need a third-row seat. The Navigator, of course, appeals to those who want the ultimate in an SUV...but is so expensive, bulky, and hard to maneuver/park that that alone rules out a lot of potential buyers.

I wouldn't exactly call Lincoln a deserted forest these days......the turnaround of the Division, in general, in the last several years has been remarkable, even considering that they don't have very many stand-alone dealerships.

I think he was referring to the MKZ specifically and not the division in general.

No surprise. Without the fusion making the MKZ makes no sense.

lincoln's turnaround is all about cuv/suvs, not sedans.

After the fiasco with the Stinger, I might actually take a look at the a ‘17+ 3.0TT AWD. You can pickup a CPO for a song.

Disagree. The Continental did a lot to affect the company's reputation, even if it did not sell. It was a far better sedan than what it replaced.

True, unless they shift the MKZ to a different platform, and bring it back at a later date. We'll see.

The Continental didn’t do anything for Lincoln
