The AMG-developed unit will produce 616 hp at 6500 rpm, along with the as-promised 575 lb-ft of torque between 3250 rpm and 5000 rpm. That’s 123 hp and 59 lb-ft more than the SL55, and enough, according to Mercedes, to push the carbon fiber-bodied coupe from standstill to 62 mph in just 3.8 seconds—0.9 second quicker than the SL55.

DAMN!
BAD @SS engine but I'm not too fond of the styling on the SLR...hmmm..I don't know, maybe seeing it in person would change my mind.

Might as well get an SL65 with a V12 that produces 612-horsepower and 724-pound-foot torque and save some money.
The only advantage to SLR is the lighter weight and a distinctive look.

The lighter weight is a huge advantage IMO and I would definitely just have the SLR tuned to produce much more power than the SL65... if you can afford the SL65 you can probably afford the SLR.
