New Kia Logo
We'll soon learn more about the cars that will wear the new logo

I don't like this because it's too modern. Not that I don't like modern design, but it's just going to become outdated in a few years, and then it will need to be changed again. I feel like a company's logo should be something that doesn't have to be constantly updated. Look at the subtle evolution logos for Ford, VW and BMW have undergone over long periods of time.
Agreed on all counts
I have a fine art, BA degree and spent the first 15 years of my career after college in the graphic design business. I designed numerous corporate identities before I switched fields to Fleet and Facility Management.
My educated eye is not impressed with the new Kia logo. It is shocking that an international car company couldn't do better. I wonder if it was designed in Korea or out-sourced to a western design firm? A great logo is critical to an emerging company like Kia, who is aiming to gain market share. Unless they designed it in-house, they likely paid millions for it. No matter how much one spends, to requisition a great logo, the executive in charge must have good taste. Unfortunately, most executives don't!
I agree with Jill's earlier statement about the lousy Toyota logo. I never liked it. However, the Lexus logo is cool.

OK Pol Pot, I guess we should just kill all the educated people rather than trust anything they have to contribute!
Of course individual preference is a factor, but when it comes to corporate identity, there is much at stake. A logo should be universally liked, or at least accepted. Judging from the mixed response in this thread, leaning toward most not liking the new logo, Kia missed the mark.

Kind of like their vehicles...they're fine. Wouldn't striving for excellence be preferred, even if only in image? I know Kia isn't exactly an aspirational car company, but image matters for any corporation. One can pay millions for a logo that is "fine," or, pay the same price for a very desirable identity.
For someone who admittedly drives luxury vehicles in part to portray your successful business image, I'm surprised you don't have more regard for corporate identity.

To be honest, I don't see where logos themselves are going to make much difference in a company's vehicles. Except for the obvious conversion of many ICEs to hybrids and BEVs, they are probably going to be the same vehicles under the skin, old or new logos.
While we can express our opinions (and I've already expressed mine in favor of the former Kia red/black ovals), much of discussion like this is really just our own personal likes and dislikes of what goes on a vehicle to identify it, not necessarily the vehicle itself.

I like the new logo better than the old logo. Problem for me is although they are making good cars these days, as mentioned earlier in this thread, the name Kia bothers me. It just sounds generic and cheap to me.
