Tesla unveils Cybertruck
The current demo that buys them is pretty well-off so cost is probably secondary. I save $2,500 a year in gas but i probably pay $100 more per year in insurance and $200 more per year in EV registration fees. Most Californians probably pay ~$200-300 worth of gas tax in a year so the cost of taxing gas equivalent miles will never offset the price difference between gas and electricity. I'm not going to even mention maintenance (or lack of) between the two platforms.
When we lived there in LA all EVs could use the HOV lanes with no passengers, for example.
That pizzes me off they did that. But it doesn't surprise me one bit.
LOL the sad thing is he bought an EV just so he could get in and out of the city for work using the HOV lane, otherwise he would’ve bought something else. Since he leased he is stuck with the car until the lease is up so that really angered him.
Los Angeles....where literally right in the middle of downtown on the 110 there are only 3 lanes for traffic.
Knoxville has a wider interstate. That was one of the things I wasn't expecting. I figured every freeway would be like Atlanta where they're about 18 lanes across.
There's just no room to do anything there to widen it, and that's why the traffic will never not be horrendous there.
Like my comments from way back this video lays out what I mentioned in an easy to understand way. Electric is not viable for any commercial trucking company or fleet or even semi-serious end user because on top of the above videos facts charge time doesn't allow continuous operation plus to increase range you need more battery weight that kills load ratings.

i used to live in Atlanta by the way. No thanks.

And trust me, at least Atlanta is designed for lots of traffic flow. (Though traffic is still bad there.)
In Los Angeles the freeways are comically narrow. Most are only 3-4 lanes per side. In the second largest city in America.
You think an accident in ATL backs things up? That's nothing compared to what happens in LA when there's a wreck. On many freeways like the 101 there isn't even enough shoulder room to get the car out of the way.
My spouse drove 17 miles to and from work when we lived there and it took 1:45 and that's with no accidents.
Buh bye we said after a couple years.
Okay, two more Tesla photos for your viewing pleasure. The second one introduces the brand-new Tesla motorcycle.

Let the debate begin.... we have Tesla haters, Tesla lovers, and folks who are indifferent on this forum.
The looks are clearly polarizing. An epic fail on the "break proof" glass... The exterior is made of the same cold-rolled steel that Musk is using in SpaceX for Mars rockets. A very interesting interior design - space age seats, unique steering wheel. The host of the video below comments on how spacious the interior is when he goes for a test ride. Price starts at $39,900 and goes up from there - and a new "Tri motor" will be available roughly a year after the initial release and is touting 500 mile range.
If nothing else, it will generate a lot of buzz. Thoughts?

Tesla as a company has hardly even turned a profit.
And this guy thinks he's going to build a "hyperloop" that goes underneath the city of LA. If you google it it's pretty ridiculous.
