Default Cool EZPass Cover Mod

One thing I've always hated is having to mount an EZPass In my cars. We have several toll roads here that take tolls at random intervals, so holding it up doesn't work, and I think those suction cup mount things look worse, so I've always begrudgingly looked for the most invisible place to mount them and just done it.

I was looking around and I found a cool rubber cover for the EZ Pass that dramatically improves its looks in the car.

Here is a picture from my Dashcam install that shows the exposed EZ Pass:

Here is the EZPass front and back inside the cover. Theres a rigid plastic part that snaps on the back letting the velco come through, and then the soft silicone cover slips over the EZpass and around the edge of the rigid backing. It also comes with black velcro to replace the clear, but I didnt bother with that since its up in the dot matrix area and invisible from the outside:

Here are the pictures of the EZPass with the cover installed:

Extremely happy with it. The EZPass now just looks like another OEM sensor attached to the windshield.

If anybody has interest I got it off eBay:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/EZ-Pass-IPa...72.m2749.l2649

It did take it a while to get to me since it came from Canada, about 2 weeks. I mean, for $7 (well, $15 with shipping) why not?

I have mine mounted in the same area as you, on the dots up behind the mirror. The issue I have is that it only triggers the toll about half the time. They usually end up billing me via plate scan. You don't have this issue?

Nope, I never have any issues with it triggering the tolls.

I wish that ours in Washington State (Good to Go Pass) looked like that. It'd be much easier to conceal.

Yeah, those newer smaller EZPasses are pretty good.

Very cool idea. I only care about it being in my line of sight, so I put mine right behind the passenger side of the rearview mirror. From the driver's seat I can't even tell it's there.

Thats what I normally do too, but you cant put it there on the LS because of the rain sensing wiper sensor, and you cant put it behind the mirror because of the sensor for the automatic high beams.

Mine didn't look like that smaller one until a few months ago, when our agency sent out replacements automatically since I had mine for 10 years.

ugh, the one I use in the Bay Area is like twice the size of the OPs, but thinner. I got mine more than 10 years ago I think, but dont even know if I would switch it out. I used to keep in the center console and take it out when passing, but now I just let the toll take my registered license plate and it works either way. Why need the pass if it can still charge me without it? But the agency also provides an exterior one that can be mounted above the front license plate frame.

Also had that issue on my IS with the I-Pass. I don't use it for over half the year anyways since I'm not up in Chicago, but if it worked up there 100% of the time, I would love to buy the cover and put it back up there. May be a battery thing though, I noticed I got a few V-Tolls over the holidays even though I had no problem with it over the summer, not due for replacement for another 2 years though.
