Who says smartphone is a burden? Smartphone is useful but its not life, though. This goes back to where this conversation started.

MattyG was saying how Apple Car Play is for the people that is glued to their phones - you just proved his point.

Okay.

You are free to have your opinion too. I'm not trying to convince you otherwise but I think you are flat out wrong and ignorant for fully dismissing a car at first value because it can't use Waze.

My problem with Waze is that it can't be fully integrated. Waze should be an App, like Yelp or Amazon Alexa, within the car's infotainment system.
My problem is and example is given:
In the 2019 Lexus ES, you can use Waze because iOS12 will allow it. However - you will be fixed to the Apple screen. You can't split screen. You have to leave the Apple mirroring service to do other things is my issue. I would prefer full integration of Waze until then - its not a dealbreaker, in my opinion.

I only said in that format because I didn't want to insult you - like you are insulting me. Not sure why you are getting hostile and aggressive? Lol

I didn't say just Waze, I said Apple Car Play.

I agree, however the potential for improvement is possible in the future. Being stuck with a manufacture based system only seem primitive.

Oh not all LOL. I am not offended nor am I trying to offend you or be hostile or aggressive. Sorry if it came off that way.

Glad you checked out Waze, Jill. I think going and trying it out makes your decision to only consider a car with CarPlay an educated one, and certainly not ignorant.

I am fortunate enough to not have a daily commute in traffic, but if I did, I'd be all over Waze.

I found the bloomberg report which says this is a done deal.

Entering the address locations is so much easier than any on board systems, it tells me all the slow downs, what is there (ie: cars stopped on side of road, police activity, slow downs etc etc). There is even an alert setting that will remind you to check on your child in the back seat upon arriving at your destination. Real time gas prices as you drive (can choose which gas stations to show and what not to show) My gosh, how could you not want this feature in any car?

If I could use this system via Apple Car Play, all the better. So I am going to change my opinion, Apple Car Play would be a deal beaker for me going forward.

I would say options whether standard or optional are important as well.
I like this reminder about kids in the back seat. Before having kids, I would have thought it silly. But now, as a parent, I get it. It's one of my biggest fears. Being up half the previous night, running on little sleep and lots of stress, while attempting to carry on with all of the ins and outs of life, it can happen. Even if it only saves one kid, it's worth it.

I'm confused. Can you migrate the Android posts to a new thread or else migrate the CarPlay/VC posts to a new thread? I think it's a good discussion. There were 2 pages before we veered off a little bit, and now there are 10. Perhaps it'd be easier to move the original 2 elsewhere?

Right? Like the potential for the future sounds pretty good. Who knows where Apple Car Play goes. My honest is guess is that Apple is going to come up with something where when in Apple Car Play, your front camera and back up camera will do a record for safety and car crash reasons in the future. How awesome would if be to avoid the whole who hit who dilemma for police and insurance.

if you want a conversation on audi virtual cockpit, start a new thread on that. it has ZERO to do with toyota's adoption of apple carplay and android auto.

Fair enough. Prior to iOS 12 Apple Car Play is crap - no Google Maps or Waze. As of right now - the only thing useful about Apple Car Play, I'll admit is Waze.

People here think I'm against Apple Car Play but they think that because I say one thing negative - they go off. My point has always been Apple Car Play is a good to be addition to the car's standard system. But at times - Apple Car Play can feel useless to a good infotainment system, such as the BMW iDrive.
Especially if you live in an area where Waze isn't effective.

Yes. An older navigation system, as the car ages, gets primitive. That's how car companies get you to buy cars.
What a lot of people are thinking is Apple Car Play will stay the same forever! I will keep getting updates even when my car is 15 years old. Apple Car Play has been out for 4 years. I feel like sooner or later, they'll introduce a Apple Car Play 2.0 that can only be used on newer cars.

We need Waze full integration onto car's infotainment system. I don't think its worth it have to switch between two systems to use Waze. I think that's primitive too.

But nice chatting with you Jill. You have your opinions and I have mind. I just personally feel to write off a car for not being able to use Apple Car Play is extreme. Just like how I think my family - who refuses to buy anything other Japanese cars - is extreme.

Can you migrate the last 8 pages to the new thread? I'll be glad to start one. Although, it's a shame. The Toyota/AA thread has almost no views, and now this thing has almost 10k. Please don't punish us, I think this is a good topic.

Some valid points. I think infotainment systems will continue to evolve. Android is going to power Nissan in the future.
