Default 2019 Mercedes GLE

Mercedes quietly unveiled the new GLE SUV. Notables is that it is now a 7 seater. Interior is nice and looks very upscale and good materials. But not sure about that odd extra vent next to the navi screen.

Beautiful interior!!!

The base engine in the GLE350 is Mercedes' 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder with 255 horsepower and 273 pound-feet of torque. All versions of the GLE will come with a nine-speed auto at launch. The engine you want to know about, though, is the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that comes integrated with a 48-volt electrical system. So equipped, the GLE450 puts out 362 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque.
Hmm when is the Q7 and X5 going to get a 2.0T base engine?

I believe the Q7 does have a 2.0t available with power similar to the MB.

Does it? I thought It was 3.0 affair only, though admittedly I don't follow the Q7 that much since I'm not a fan of this generation. I loved the first generation with the 4.2L V8.

Man the tires on that are massive. I'm always impressed by the stance with the wide rims on the German SUVs. The RX just looks so weak in comparison.

GLE is an evolution of previous GLK, ML series. I got last year of ML550 with biturbo V8, 7 speed tranny. This W166 body vs GLE is W166X. (believe X stands for extended version) Some options on ML has been dropped on GLE. GLK, ML series vehicles are known for it's reliability. After ~30K miles no trouble, just regular scheduled service which was 2 oil changes. For me it was an upgrade from Audi SQ5/Lexus RX-450h. Wife says most comfy car we ever had. Lexus = Luxury export to U.S.

The GLC is the evolution of the GLK. The ML (previously M class) was renamed GLE several years ago.

Styling is very plain.

Surprised to see 4cyl turbo as the base engine especially since X5 has turbo 6.

The interior is pretty much typical MB with the new MBUX. Looks good but still think the MBUX two style tablet being stuck on there is ugly. Feel like an afterthought to be honest.

Front is pretty vanilla and I just hate the back.

I am starting to like these modern designs of Mercedes SUVs. Much better looking than previous generations.

The interior quality on the new models it class leading. Very little plastic you can touch in them now. Even my C43 has metal buttons now.

I double checked and he 2.0t is the base engine on Premium and Premium Plus models with the 3.0t V6 standard on Prestige trim.

The AMG line of this car looks like a winner inside & out. We had a 2007 ML63 which is the predecessor of the GLE. I think this is the best ML/GLE to date & MB hit a home-run.
