from the descriptions in the slide show it's hard to see how the gs survives.

The ES is by no means a sports car, but its numbers would say differently. Since it's on an all-new, more dynamic and stiff platform, the ES makes for a fun car to tear up some bends in. The ES is initially available with either a 2.5-liter inline-4 making 176 hp and 163 lb-ft. Opt for the upgraded engine and you get a 3.5-liter V-6, making 302 hp and 267 lb-ft; not slow by any means. That's 7.9 or 5.4 seconds to 60 mph and standing ¼-mile times of 15.9 and 14 seconds (respectively). It achieves those numbers with the help of its 8-speed automatic transmission. You forgot to mention that the inline-4 cylinder engine is only available in the Hybrid model. Without mentioning "Hybrid", you scare people -- and they will blame Lexus -- because of the woefully underpowered engine.

No not at all. My comment was that the trunk is GIGANTIC, even in hybrid form. It fits 3 full size suitcases with still more room. I have not written any review since I didn't have much seat time, but I spent about 3 hours total with a 2019 ES350 base, a luxury, and F-Sport versions, and a ES300h, a few weeks ago. I posted my comments in this thread

One can expect this to be the most successful selling ES ever. Everything I've read about it seems to hit high marks everywhere. And I don't think the average ES buyer is all that picky to begin with. There is a massively loyal following for the ES. Mostly female grandmas, executives, real estate agents, and well to do, smart-thinking buyers who want quality and reliability without blowing their savings wad. Lexus will make a lot of money here, which is great. Maybe they can use some of it to hire designers that envision an IS and GS that has a body that hugs the ground, not retracts from it.

But then, there was the earlier comment about the 4-cylinder engine, with no mention of the hybrid components.
I liked this article way more than some of the others in recent memory, but still, anyone else think there should be a proofreader for these?
