The new 2019 Lexus ES is more efficient and comfortable than ever before.

from the descriptions in the slide show it's hard to see how the gs survives.

Performance

The ES is by no means a sports car, but its numbers would say differently. Since it's on an all-new, more dynamic and stiff platform, the ES makes for a fun car to tear up some bends in. The ES is initially available with either a 2.5-liter inline-4 making 176 hp and 163 lb-ft. Opt for the upgraded engine and you get a 3.5-liter V-6, making 302 hp and 267 lb-ft; not slow by any means. That's 7.9 or 5.4 seconds to 60 mph and standing ¼-mile times of 15.9 and 14 seconds (respectively). It achieves those numbers with the help of its 8-speed automatic transmission.

You forgot to mention that the inline-4 cylinder engine is only available in the Hybrid model. Without mentioning "Hybrid", you scare people -- and they will blame Lexus -- because of the woefully underpowered engine.

No not at all. My comment was that the trunk is GIGANTIC, even in hybrid form. It fits 3 full size suitcases with still more room. I have not written any review since I didn't have much seat time, but I spent about 3 hours total with a 2019 ES350 base, a luxury, and F-Sport versions, and a ES300h, a few weeks ago. I posted my comments in this thread

One can expect this to be the most successful selling ES ever. Everything I've read about it seems to hit high marks everywhere. And I don't think the average ES buyer is all that picky to begin with. There is a massively loyal following for the ES. Mostly female grandmas, executives, real estate agents, and well to do, smart-thinking buyers who want quality and reliability without blowing their savings wad. Lexus will make a lot of money here, which is great. Maybe they can use some of it to hire designers that envision an IS and GS that has a body that hugs the ground, not retracts from it.

and the new options will expand its appeal greatly.
4 cyl will keep the price down for those that don't care about some more grunt.
6 cyl for those that want more effortless power
hybrid for greenies
f-sport for people who like to pretend they drive something sporty and wanted something nicer than a camry xse

is it avail in awd?

ES: 22 city and 33 hwy

ES 350- F-Sport: 22 city and 31 hwy

ES 300h: 43 city and 45 hwy
Regarding the first, I assume they mean ES 350.

But then, there was the earlier comment about the 4-cylinder engine, with no mention of the hybrid components.

I liked this article way more than some of the others in recent memory, but still, anyone else think there should be a proofreader for these?
