This is something that is critical for the automakers to get out of their heads......this made-abroad mentality. Trump is absolutely serious when he says that big tariffs are coming on vehicles sold in the U.S., but not made in the U.S. You either build it here, or you won't be able to sell it at anywhere near a competitive price. That policy, of course, will apply especially to American-badged companies like GM and Ford.

With all the work Trump is trying to do to keep US auto brands and workers fortified (the tariff thing), I kind of look at any American company doing any future business in Mexico as a kick in the butt and counterproductive. Mind you, it's obviously cheaper to build cars there. But if the POTUS is going to go out of his way, more than any others in the past, to help secure a healthy U.S. business environment, then manufacturers should make the effort too. Just my two cents. You agree at this stage in the game?

See, though......THAT's where Trump is going to hit the auto manufacturers at their own game. If he gets the big 25-35% tariffs he wants on vehicles sold here in the U.S. but not built here, you can virtually guarantee that they won't be cheaper to produce in Mexico, and the manufacturers are going to be sorry they spent that time and money re-tooling in those overseas plants and hiring local employees. The intelligent company, IMO, will recognize that, and start making plans to either keep production here to start with, or bring jobs and productions back home that they farmed out in years past. In the past, our Presidents simply didn't address this problem of too much production overseas.......Trump based much of his campaign on it, and is following through on his promises.

The 2019 Blazer will go on sale early in 2019. The LT, RS and Premier trims are the ones we know of right now. There's a possibility of another low-end trim like LT also being available. The standard engine is a naturally aspirated four-cylinder making 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque with an optional V6 making 305 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque. Front-wheel drive is also standard with two all-wheel drive systems available.

The 2019 Chevy Blazer made a splash recently with its bold new looks, and now it has an official base price. It's a little less bold, but certainly very competitive with the entry-level L trim starting at $29,995. In comparison with other style-conscious, two-row, midsize crossovers, the Blazer comes out strong. The 2019 Ford Edge starts at $30,990, not quite $1,000 more than the Blazer, and the 2018 Nissan Murano starts at $31,795, $1,800 more than the Chevy.
For the base price of just under $30,000, you get the Chevy Blazer L with a naturally aspirated four-cylinder engine making 193 horsepower and 188 pound-feet of torque. That engine is coupled to a nine-speed automatic transmission and standard front-wheel drive. The Blazer L also includes an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and starting, heated mirrors, and 18-inch alloy wheels.
