2019 Mercedes-AMG E53
It sounds great! But it sucks to know that it's artificial. Very curious to know what it's mpg is like. So many decently powerful cars getting mid to high 20's in highway driving is pretty cool. Wonder if the mild hybrid setup improves upon that
wow, car sounds incredible and seems very fast.
HATE HATE all the cheesy chrome or silver painted plastic on the steering wheel though.
about the sound, i did think it was cheesy when he opened the windows and the sound didn't really change, because clearly a lot of the sound is just pumped INTO the cabin, not from outside.

This AM, a E43 was driving all crazy (got it on the dash cam), and I had to do one of those is this a real AMG or not. It looks like it but I was leaning towards no "6", not real. Now, on this one, there is a 5, so I'd probably say still not a "6."
No question impressive numbers, but maybe the clue is when cars are limited to 130 mph, not a real AMG...inline 6 again a plus.

The one that was weaving all over the bridge this AM even made the popping/crackling sounds. No question they have outrageous numbers especially compared to cars that are older. But I just think the clue is when they top out at 130 mph, they are not the "real" AMGs or M cars. Kinda like with Audi, the S as opposed to RS. But it's getting harder to tell these things without "knowing." 130 mph wouldn't cut it in Germany, maybe they remove the limiters through the aftermarket...

if we want to get into technicalities, i think the only thing that really seals the deal is the hand assembled engine. the engine in my car was assembled by Robert Feiler...
that's Robert Feiler!!
i think it's awesome that there's literally a video of the exact guy who put my engine together, putting another one together with Jay Leno! idk if the hand assembly actually means better reliability and fewer issues but it's still a cool personal touch that can't be said for most engines.
The fastest I have ever driven is maybe 125, so one could say, what difference does it make, then? It does. It's an indication if the car is for real, or it isn't. There's no reason to limit a E53 to 130, but I think it's marketing. If you want more, you have to get a real AMG. Again, probably people will remove it through the aftermarket, then it does become real.
Again, my perception of "real" is driven by the mfg. and their intentions.

plus you're forgetting all the e55s and slk55s which were definitely 'real' amg's.
