Picked up a 2018 Civic Type R
Even before my GS350 started having transmission issues, I was always dreaming about getting a different car. Welp last month the transmission started acting up and MILs were produced. I'm having a shop inspect it but I'm ready to sell it unless something stops me. The choice came down to either a used ISF or a Championship White Civic Type R.
A deciding factor was my dog. A hatchback would be way more useful than an even smaller sedan than the GS. Also, for the price of a clean used ISF from the 2011+ range I could spend a tiny bit more and get a brand new car complete with warranty. At least this is my thinking and of course other people may have different preferences. I was also not keen on rebuilding an ISF transmission should it ever go bad and would rather go back to driving a manual instead.
Welp. This weekend the price was right on the Type R of my dreams. # R-07045. It is definitely no Lexus in ride, NVH, and features. But damn--I cant wait to get past the break in period.

Awesome. Looks wild!
I'm definitely on the hatchback bandwagon. It's amazing what you gain in storage and capability by having the full lift-back opening.
Give us a review after you break it in.

Congratulations.
You must be built a LOT thinner than I am. Honda had a new Civic Type R out on the floor, unlocked, at the D.C. Auto Show last week, and the driver's seat was so narrow, with hard sharp bolsters on each side, that I physically could not sit in it without it driving me up the wall. With the possible (exception) of the Alfa Romeo 4C, I had more trouble with that seat than any other I've sampled lately. But, if you are thin, you will probably have no problems.....and those side-bolsters will hold you in like a cradle.

Very cool, congrats.
Enjoy your new car.
Could you provide input regarding the tranny? I guess some folks are experiencing some grinding in second gear.
Awesome dog, but I would prefer pics of your doggy in the front passenger seat.

Congrats! I seriously thought about the CTR too. You noted that "for the price of a clean used ISF from the 2011+ range I could spend a tiny bit more and get a brand new car complete with warranty.", So did you get it fir MSRP?

Thank you everyone.
I got the car for $2500 over msrp. It included some pre installed GPS tracking for 3yr, 5yr interior and exterior coating, door edge and handle films, wheel locks, all weather mats.
Not ideal as msrp but it was the best deal for a white one in CA. Other dealers don't offer any value with their ADM.
As much as I love my dog, his nails will absolutely tear up the alcantara. So no go there haha
If this is what riceville is like, I'll be here for a while
