Picked up a 2018 Civic Type R
I just have a hard time wrapping my head around paying $45,000 for a damn Golf. Much rather have a loaded Mustang GT or Dodge Challenger for that price.
But yes, I agree our choices in cheaper performance cars now days sucks and is probably going to get worse. Especially in that under $30,000 bracket, you have like maybe 4 choices IMO where you don't feel like you got the shaft(aka buying a 4 cylinder Camaro or Mustang)

I do like the Scat Pack with the shaker hood. We have a facility in Brampton, ON, and when I was there, groups of Challengers were all driving around. Apparently they are assembled nearby....colleague had a Grand Cherokee SRT which was brand new last year, so sweet...put a stick in that and even better!
Even before my GS350 started having transmission issues, I was always dreaming about getting a different car. Welp last month the transmission started acting up and MILs were produced. I'm having a shop inspect it but I'm ready to sell it unless something stops me. The choice came down to either a used ISF or a Championship White Civic Type R.
A deciding factor was my dog. A hatchback would be way more useful than an even smaller sedan than the GS. Also, for the price of a clean used ISF from the 2011+ range I could spend a tiny bit more and get a brand new car complete with warranty. At least this is my thinking and of course other people may have different preferences. I was also not keen on rebuilding an ISF transmission should it ever go bad and would rather go back to driving a manual instead.
Welp. This weekend the price was right on the Type R of my dreams. # R-07045. It is definitely no Lexus in ride, NVH, and features. But damn--I cant wait to get past the break in period.

Thanks guys. Got almost 1500 miles on it since picking it up. Planning on getting the front end and maybe roof wrapped in STEK Dynoshield since I'm DDing it and to give me some piece of mind that the paint will be protected.
No plans as far as mods. I intend to enjoy the car in stock form as Honda intended until the warranty expires, then who knows. But for now didnt buy the car to mod it. Will hopefully be partaking in some autox this season!
Always fun to see people taking pics/video of it. I dont think a base model 3 series BMW or a lexus IS200t would garner the same attention for the same price. It's something special for sure.

I might rock one if it looked more like this:

They're still too limited and dealers only get 2 at a time at most, with unpredictable future allotments. They wont risk a noob or an inconsiderate customer abusing their brand new CTR and harming its value. Sad but true. Most of them you'll find in the showrooms and not in their lots.
