I could be wrong, but didn't the second generation Q7 also become lower than the original?

BMW stopped evolving in terms of design in my opinion. Look how drastically Benz has changed, even Lexus. BMW is playing way too safe, to a point where you can't even distinguish new from old.

Someone needs to start a car company and call it Grille Motors™ it will be wildly successful.

The 7 already started this with the "tall grill" effect. It's not that good on a sedan, and on a X5 it's not going to look good unless you tone down the vertical fins. That dental work looks like somebody went back to the 1950s and looked at what braces looked like.

Yes, one of my Indian friends has the original Q7 in black, while one of my Hong Kong friends has the 2nd gen Q7 in white, and the new model is longer, wider, but lower and more sharp lined.

Yes, I think it looks great too; more stately.

Unusually low belt line/tall side glass, for today's cars. Not sure I dig the bloated kidney grille.

Well Jimmy Kimmel will be in the market for a new X5. He just crashed his current ride making a wrong turn out in LA. Just a day after interviewing Donald's fling. Was it that distracting? Lol.
