The LS output is competitive. People seem to forget for a long time Lexus and Toyota engines made less horsepower than their competitors engines. Lexus 4.7 in my LX back in 2000 (and my current 4Runner) was 50 horses short of GM’s 4.8 at the time. The 4.3 LS engine was short of the Cadillac Northstar in the 90’s but I think it was up on torque. But they made up for it in other ways.

Toyota led for a while in the 05’s with their class leading 3.5, 4.6 and 5.7 at the time. Same with the 4.0.

As for the performance times. The new LS is pretty good whether you can duplicate it or not. People need to stop complaining about Lexus and their engine. 416hp is pretty awesome.

Not sure where the official 0-60mph figure came from, but its way off from the real world testing from motor trend
4.6 sec official / 5.3 motor trend

BMW's were always 0.1-0.2 off but pretty close. They even underestimate their output sometimes.

You should check the facts.
