2018 Kia Stinger
^^^Your experience, not of others therefore your opinions have to be weighted on the basis of the taint of the anecdotal ideology from your individual experience. Cadillac has everything to do with it. The ATS has easily been praised as a Bimmer 3 series competitor. What happened? Well GM cheaped out on interior material quality and Cadillac has a bad rap for quality control. Cadillac also has this weird "art and science" nonsense going on with weird square edgy styling which looks ridiculous. Where is Lexus' competitor to this Stinger?
I have learned from experience to be sceptical of anything that is so loudly hyped up. There is a tremendous amount of hype surrounding the Kia Stinger.
I believe that the Stinger was not built for mass-market buyers; it was built for auto critics and sporty driving enthusiasts. Kia built the Stinger to prove something to the auto critics.
It won't matter if the Stinger is accepted by buyers as a mass-market car or as a premium car, and it won't matter if it is a good car or a bad car, because it has already been graded as a success by the critics, most of whom seem to be gaga over it -- just look at how they are comparing it to BMW models. This car was built was not for buyers but for auto critics.

I agree in part with your assessment. The Stinger was not built for mass-market buyers. KIA has mass market cars and crossovers. The Stinger is intended to change the perception of KIA by people who enjoy cars. Many of the critics have found faults with the Stinger for not being enough "hard core sport" and handling not suited for track use. I am really thrilled with the Stinger and it will be my next car so it attracts not only auto critica.
Who, though, would base their buying decision on a difference of 0.4 second 0-60 time?......especially considering all the variables that go into what those times actually are. Doesn't make much sense to me.
This is probably more like it. While these acceleration figures are just one measure, I'm sure they are used by a lot of potential buyers as they try to learn more about the vehicle they are considering.
