Need SUV

+1 I really liked my driving experience in the redesigned and 200 pound lighter 2018 Q5, but want to wait a couple of years for all the options to become available (Audi is introducing the car in North America in various stages of colors and options), and the "first year bugs" are worked out.
Not concerned at all that the new Q5 is now produced for the world (except China) in Mexico, but just reluctant to buy any manufacturer's model in its first year of production.

Really? Jeep must have gotten a lot better....
I've owned three Jeeps over the years, and finally got fed up with the lack of build quality and the continuing mechanical problems that would put our Jeeps in the shop for an entire day or longer.
Living in the Northwest, a Jeep was once the only way to go, but I've painfully discovered it was not the most economical or reliable way to go when all was said and done.

@DamnpDuffer I guess in terms of SUV 4x4 climbing over stuff. Dunno about reliability, but then again the OP didn't specify what needs they want to meet with an SUV that is not an NX.

Lexus Champion
No parameters were set such as price, size of the SUV, number of seats, priority of performance vs comfort, or price. These are SUVs I would consider outside of Lexus:
Audi Q5 or Q7
Jaguar F-Pace (not the most reliable brand, but much improved)
Range Rover Velar (not the most reliable brand)
Porsche Macan or Cayenne (expensive maintanence though)
Defintely would not consider any SUVs from FCA like Jeep, Maserati, or Alfa Romeo. Terrible build quality and reliability (worse than those mentioned above).

Nothing is new with Jeep as far as reliability. Look at an Acura RDX.

For the price points I'd look at the MDX instead of the RDX. '17 MDX has much better looking grille and size than the RDX. I almost bought an RDX over the NX, but couldn't get past its bland styling as compared to the f-sport, although it beat the NX in nearly every other category IMO.

[QUOTE=NXblue;9891855]Agreed , sports mode is gold! I was reluctant to use it during my test drives with the sales guy. I was pleasantly surprised when I eventually tried it the second day after I collected my NX.
