Default 2011 Lexus IS 250 High Mileage

Post removed. I provided too much information. Soon after my post, even with a request to test drive submitted, it was taken. Sadly, I thank you for your quick and helpful responses!

I would do some research into the carbon build-up on this engine. There are some threads about it here on CL in the 2nd gen IS forum. I'm not sure how prevalent it is on the 2011, but was a real problem for many owners on 2006-2010 - so much so that Lexus provided coverage to address it for 9 years/unlimited miles on some years of the IS250.

Agree that the 2nd Gen IS forum is the place for this type of inquiry. I had an 07 that had the carbon issue, which was covered under warranty. But the dealer had to see codes in the ECU, or witness idle issues to cover it.

I'm curious on how you drive your car? Do you usually keep it under 3k rpm? How often do you redline?

Well under 10K annually, I drive considerate of my vehicle and other drivers; likely, not to utilize all this model is capable of performing. However, shortly after my post today, it was taken. Thank you for your reply!

I was actually replying to TEX2670 regarding the oil sludge and his driving style.

Anyways, good luck finding another one. They are dime a dozen. Btw, its not hard to fully use the IS250 power at all...

Default Actually, you don't need Misfire code.

Saw that it was mentioned in this thread for the carbon build up issue. The dealer said the same thing, "Has to have present misfire code." Corporate said the opposite. I just had my 09' rebuilt by woodfield lexus as of 6-7-17 and 103,000. I did not have a present misfire code and only once, months previously, did i get the misfire code at which point upon next start up, check engine light went away. The dealership will say you need the code. Do not take no for an answer, call corporate if you have issues.
