First post; 2011 IS250 knocking issue
Hey everyone. So I have been trolling the internet for a few weeks trying to get information on an issue I am having....loud "knocking" under acceleration when cold. 99% of all the info I keep pouring over is related to 1st gen, metallic grinding/knocking on startup, etc. What I am experiencing is a little different from what I have found....maybe....
Car is a 2011 and only has 19,000 miles on it. I got it a couple of months ago with around 16,500 miles. Everything has been basically perfect, as expected. Well about 500 miles ago, I get this knocking. When I start the car in the morning, it sounds perfect, even when revving. But as soon as I put it in gear and accelerate, it knocks pretty loud. Not a metallic knock, and not quite as "rattling" as valve/lifter clatter. It eventually quiets after 4-5 minutes, but never really goes away.
I even had my oil changed with Toyota 0W20 as per the manual just to be safe that the dealer I purchased the car from didn't. And of course I only use 93 grade gas.
Now the nearest Lexus dealer is 180 miles away, so I can't just pop in and heave them take a look, or to simply tell me "it's normal".
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Cheers,
Christopher

It's not a ticking sound is if, this engine has direct injection and you'll hear it tick really loud. Mine sounds like a sewinf machine but it's normal. Post a vid of the sound you speak of and we'll see if its normal or not

Yeah when the car is first started up when cold, it sounds perfect, even while revving the engine. As soon as i put it in gear and accelerate, it's ticking really loud. Quiets down after 5 min, but never really goes completely away.
