Call around to your local locksmiths. The good ones are pretty up to date on current tech and might be able to make you a new key fob for way less than the dealer.

Really? It is all computer programmed and your best bet might be to get one cheap from eBay and take it to the dealer for programming.

Like I said, call around to your local locksmiths, they can make a key for you. The good ones have the appropriate tools and software to make you a new key for way less than what the dealer charges. Look at it this way, cars have been coming with keyless fobs now for almost 10 years. They need to adapt with the times or they will go out of business.

Match the code on the back of the one you have and check out eBay.

I know many of the good ones can now make the keyfobs built into the key head that Lexus had ~10 years ago, with the security chip embedded, etc. I think popeye84 is asking about the newer passive entry/push button start fob. I have yet to see any locksmith that is capable of programming one of those.

Our local pop-a-lock guy made a new set of key fobs for a 2015 Nissan Leaf. I know, not a Toyota, but he had the appropriate tools to interface with the computer on that car and program a new key. I'm thinking the better locksmiths can make you a factory fob, Lexus has been using this same system for 7-8 years now.

That's impressive, and good to know that it's spreading out
