I love the modern take on a hot rod. The 1999 Prowler is always a show stopper wherever you go!
Not fast as it looks but fast enough for most, not practical but an interesting car to own! He always wanted one... So he's there! Just bought it Thursday with 34k miles...

i remember we having this on the lot awhile back. crappy trash interior and slow .
Remember this was 1999 so the interior is not made like a Bentley or SC/LS or even my 300ZX has better ergonomics... But it's on par with or better than other Spartan dash big buck cars in 1999. ie Vette, Viper, etc
But I do agree with the cheap plastics that most American brands use even still to this day!
Congratulations ........the Prowler was always a car that could turn heads.
Because of the limited trunk space, some Prowlers came with a small matching trailer in the same body-color for carrying luggage. Did your friend get one with the car?
When these cars were new, back in the late 90s, you would not believe the dealer mark-ups on them. I saw some of them marked up 100% over list...in other words, twice the sticker-price.

Power to weight ratio is better I'm sure... And this was 1999. Hell my 300ZX is a slug compared to most cars today hell grandma Buick is fast today and uncle billy bob truck is just as fast
Not only was the V6 kind of sluggish/underpowered, it doesn't make the right noises. A hot rod needs a V8 with that unmistakable burble. V6 engines, for the most part, sound like poo if you put an aftermarket exhaust on them.
Physically stuffing in a big Hemi (if possible) is one thing, but can the chassis actually take the power and weight? This car was originally designed for a 3.5L V6....and, at the time, one of the reasons the engineers gave for not using using a V8 was that they considered the engine compartment too small, and not wide enough.

Lol!!!😀. He has a modded 2011 Grandsport Vette for really fast days. Plus some cars you don't need to butcher..

Did you even read the article I posted???? It can be done, and has been done, and no it isn't easy.
Honestly I think Chrysler engineers stuck the V6 in there because they were lazy and didn't really have a good v8 back in the 90's to put in there anyways. Their performance motor back then was the Viper V10, and absolutely no way was that going to fit in there. The best V8 Chrysler had in the late 90's was the 5.9 Magnum V8, or in hotrodder speak the 360cu LA V8 that made 245hp/345lb-ft torque.
