Buick Avista Concept
Anyone seen this new concept from Buick?
I was skeptical at first because well Buick... but searched up photos and gotta say it is a looker.

Found these here: http://www.avistaforums.com/threads/...t-auto-show.4/
If they can build it and keep it looking faithful to the concept I would consider this as my next daily.

That might (?) turn out to be the next Buick Grand National or GNX. I understand they are doing a 400 HP version of it. A Grand National was supposed to be done on the Holden/Chevy SS platform, but was (probably) cancelled because of GM's phasing out Holden-based products built in Australia. Holden, as you'll remember, gave us not only the Chevy SS, but the former Pontiac GTO and G8.
Another possibility, besides the Grand National/GNX, could (?) be the rebirth of the Riviera. The Rivieras of the early-mid 1960s (and the boat-tailed versions of the early 1970s) were great classics.
It's possible, of course (to save money on RWD development)....but I don't think that they would actually use a Camaro-F-body platform for a coupe in this class. A Buick-grade personal-luxury coupe demands a little more refinement than that.

This is just about the only American car (other than older muscle cars) that I could actually get excited about. From the carbon fiber bits and what looks to be ceramic brakes, it will likely cary a very premium price tag if they do build it.

The new Camaro is on the Alfa platform now shared with the Cadillac ATS, it rides, handles, and drives much better then the older F body platform.
Guys this is just another classic case of General Motors making a stunning concept (they have many over the years) that either (a) don't make it to production or (b) pale in comparison to the concept when they hit the streets.
Sure the car looks good, I really appreciate the details in the design. However it's nothing to get excited over as it will likely never make it to production. There is little market for these big coupes, especially one with a Buick badge on the front. Maybe they would make a business case for a large Cadillac coupe, but how likely would that be to succeed after how colossally the ELR failed? Cadillacs are already slow to sell as it is, as demonstrated by the flops that are the ATS, CTS, XTS, and soon-to-be CT6.

I think this has a very real possibility and business case. The Alpha platform cars are not selling to expectations (namely the ATS/CTS) so I'm sure that Lansing plant would love some diversification of models to help maintain plant volumes.
sure looks cool but we'll never get it.
just looks like another tease of a car that the bean counters at Government Motors wont ever build sadly. I don't even pay attention to these anymore. if there ever is a production version it will look stupid and drive terrible, like pretty much everything else from them.
