Definitely looks like it. Kind of scared to see how much it'll cost. The Odyssey Touring Elite already starts at $44k.

I hope it will come out soon and Lexus as well. I just bought an odyssey and wish there was a luxury version. Mercedes is bringing the vclass over and now Acura? Maybe Lexus next ?

Redundant. This is EXACTLY the reason the RSX died. To close a car to the sibling Civic. Confused the snot outta buyers. People will buy it but...why? A tricked out Odyssey is one heck of a ride as is.

kbb has it right, the Odyssey is already atop the game...an Acura version needs to be worth that $10k premium, don't see how/where they'll justify it when the Odyssey is so good as is

If they offer features that the Odyssey doesn't have, then it might be worthwhile. SH-AWD is a good start since the Odyssey doesn't offer AWD at all. It needs to be as different as the MDX is to the Pilot. More power, better fuel efficiency, and better luxury features. Perhaps Honda will get rid of the Elite/Elite Touring and force you to go with the Acura if you wanted all those techs. The top of the line Odyssey will then be the EX-L, which I think should be the case anyhow.

mercedes and acura obviously see a market opportunity. and as we've discussed, a tricked out sienna is pretty nice, so i could see a lexus minivan too.

^^^^^ With Touring Elite Odysseys at $44k, Acura really needs to add value before they slap another $10k onto the price. The MDX is a great vehicle for its class, but I've never been convinced that it is worth an extra $10k.

AWD Acura Minivan could pull sales away from the MDX.

So what, you'll have more net sales at the end of the day.

It'l be interesting to see what kind of fuel economy it gets. The Acura MDX FWD comes in at 20/28 and the Odyssey already gets 19/28. If the Acura minivan is based on the MDX's lighter platform, you might even see 30mpg highway assuming Honda detunes the engine.

Acura is really running out of ideas, they're milking the Honda brand as far as it can. next in line: 2017 Acura RLR (aka Ridgeline)

Odyssey is already on the same platform as MDX, MDX is generally lighter due to the fact that it's nearly 10 inches shorter in overall length and a bit narrower. I don't think you'd see any gains in fuel economy vs either Ody or MDX unless they decide to update for the 9 speed auto.

Possibly, but depending on the level of cannibalization and overall profit of one vs the other, it could net out even overall, or not as much of a gain as they would want.

I'm surprised the other automakers have let Sienna become the only AWD minivan on the market, but even for Sienna it's a pretty low sales mix.

I don't think so, toyota sells tons of highlanders and siennas and both have awd. Dodge sold the caravan with awd for a while, I guess they dropped it due to poor sales.
