Talking sales....what people have to understand is that the LS500 is not going to do 35,000 or even 25,000 units in its first year, and thats okay. The segment is not what it used to be, nobody does that kind of volume in the segment anymore, including Mercedes. If they can sell 1k LS500s a month the first year that will be a victory for Lexus.

Based on pics, videos and specs - it seems Lexus has decided to position LS differently than what it has always been.
Obviously the styling is much more aggressive but the overall shape is less traditional for this segment.
More Panamera and Jaguar, less Sclass 7series and A8.
I have to see it in person or even on the street in the real world to see the type of statement it makes.
Personally your traditional (older) German car buyer will not look at this due to styling and lack of V8.
Performance oriented buyers will go for Panamera or even Model S.
I think it will appeal to young buyers who grew up on Japanese cars and our stepping up for first time into a flagship or existing Lex owners of ES, GS etc. If pricing is same as current LS, it should definitely sell about 1k per month at least for first 2 years. But i dont see many Sclass owners jumping ship to ge this.

I think they have realized that they're never going to conquest S Class and 7 Series owners. Better to position themselves to acquire new flagship buyers and buyers loyal to their own brand. I don't think that's a bad thing...Originally Posted by RNM GS3

One of my favorite reviewers, Thomas from Autogefuhl. I have seen other reviewers make videos about the LS on this moving platform and they said they aren't allowed to sit in the LS, only open the door and view it. I dont think Thomas got the message

The current GS was almost discontinued and it was also delayed.
The current GS sells in such small #s and with new Eclass, 5series, A6 coming plus the Genesis, CTS, etc.
It will be selling at less than 1,000 units if left as is.
And I guess no plans for next gen of F cars?
No more GS? That's sad! ITs the only mid size proper RWD sedan Lexus offers!
