Next Lexus LS (2018 model)
The exact point you're trying to make is moot considering that the depreciation is only slightly more than a LS. Ignoring the validity of the exact depreciation numbers, your statement still does nothing to prove that the S550 is a worse car: all that it is is simply your opinion being presented as a fact.
My 2 cents. I have had 2001, 2004, and 2007 LS but in 2010 I ran away from Lexus to other luxury brands because of the horrible dealership service in Houston metropolitan area. I have been lurking here every so often to keep up and am quite interested in seeing what the new LS will have
FYI - Contrary to others, my experience with MB, A, BMW, and Porches has been very positive and found it to be at par to Lexus.
PS: Hello Rominl (Henry) it has been awhile. James

As an owner of a brand new LS460 I can tell you...it's a great car, the S550 is a better car. The price difference reflects that. Lexus needs to step up their game and answer that.
As someone who has watched values in this segment over a long period of time, the S Class does depreciate more steeply than the LS. Doesnt mean the LS is a better car. More expensive cars depreciate faster, and the public has more faith in the long term reliability of a Lexus which helps resale.
If you offered me an S550 in exchange for my LS I would take it. Every LS owner being honest would.

Depends on what you're looking to get. A LS460L is a closer comparison than the LS460 SWB, dimension-wise. The base difference is about $18,000. When fully built, the difference is about $34,000. But the built S550 has an absurd amount of stuff.
S550 can be built to over 130-140k, Haven't checked. LS lately, maybe 90?
When I was shopping for S550, I was looking at MSRP around 121k, which doesn't even come with any rear seat goodies, not to mention high end sound, night vision, or designo.

I got the S550 to $143,000 with all the options outside the sports package(since that compares more toward the LS460F), the LS460L to $110,000 with all its options.

i think dealership experience can really vary. i have seen awesome and terrible lexus services myself, and my limited experience with bmw and mb have been very positive so far (though of course, i have heard bad ones too).
lexus has extra 3 years or so on the new LS, they better get it right
