Infiniti announced during a press conference plans to introduce a Nissan Juke-based crossover and the facelifted QX80 at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show.
It seems Infiniti will be getting its own Juke in a couple of weeks as during a press conference held in Beijing the company showed a darkened teaser image which has just about the same peculiar silhouette as the recently facelifted Juke.
The model is destined to arrive (at least) in China later this year together with two versions of the Q50 (the second one is probably a long wheelbase), QX60, QX70 and what appears to be a facelifted QX80. The latter is said to receive a redesigned front fascia together with restyled taillights and a revamped dashboard inside the cabin.
Rather than importing them, most of the cars enumerated will be manufactured by Nissan at their Xiangyang factory in China as a method to avoid the local government's steep import taxes.
Infiniti's Juke and facelifted QX80 will be officially revealed on April 20.
A luxury version of the Nissan Juke could be on its way, sporting an Infiniti badge.
Reports are coming in that the Japanese automaker is planning to unveil a new compact crossover at the upcoming 2014 Beijing Motor Show based on the Nissan Juke. The luxury compact crossover segment is growing, especially now that Lexus has officially debuted its NX model, so it’s natural that Infiniti would create a competitor of its own.
The above image was part of a press conference held before the Beijing Motor Show and reveals a shaded silhouette of an unnamed model that shares a similar roofline to the Juke. It is likely that Infiniti’s version will sport styling similar to what is found on the Q50, as the brand shifts its image to be more consistent throughout its lineup.
The model is being mentioned as one of seven Infiniti models that will enter the Chinese market this year. As for this being the QX30, it’s possible, but unlikely since that model will be built on the Q30 platform and isn’t due until 2016. This is the first time the brand has hinted at an even more compact crossover, do there’s a chance it could sport the QX20 or even QX10 nameplate.
We’ll know more once the 2014 Beijing Motor Show kicks off in a couple of weeks.
Apparantly, then, it will be different from the upcoming Q30 concept, which, if released, will be sold in other markets.
North America and Europe will probably get the Q30 but not the Juke-based model (if report is to be believed). China and other Asian markets will probably get the Juke one.
QX50 is in sore need of a redesign...I hope Infiniti fixes that soon.
It really is. I hope they do it right though because it's clear the Q50 (which the QX50 would probably share its platform with) still has room for improvement.
