Ok, other people (including you) have posted "old recycled info" in this thread and other threads in this section. And no one calls you guys out for it. Why do you feel the need to post the usual negative reply / calling me out? If you don't like what is being post than just move on. No one is forcing you to read everything on this thread.

They have hinted at $50k-$60k price range. Kevin Hunter has said any high, than that would be going into Lexus territory.

Default Toyota Supra Name Back On The Table, US Patent Application Filed

TOYOTA SUPRA RETURNING

Toyota has submitted an application to the US Patent And Trademark Office to once again secure the rights to the name “Supra”.

Fans of the cult sports car will be hoping this can only mean one thing; a new Toyota Supra is on the way.

There’s some evidence to support a new Supra, with Toyota releasing a teaser image of a coupe concept for the new Gran Turismo Vision game, and later revealing the similar-looking FT-1 Sports Coupe Concept.

Toyota even sought to include some Supra DNA in the FT-1, with an eye on a possible rebirth for the sports car badge.

“Our team was heavily influenced by Toyota’s sports car past, especially Celica and Supra, and we sought to capture some of that history," Calty’s Studio Chief Designer, Alex Shen, said.

"It is an aggressive, track-focused sports car concept with a presence that has been amplified for shock and awe"

Toyota has confirmed it is co-developing a new sports car platform with BMW, which may or may not have anything to do with the "New Supra".

The patent and trademark application was submitted to US authorities last week, following an earlier application in 2010, which was abandoned.

Toyota’s original application (submitted in 1979) expired in 2006, with the Japanese carmaker waiting until 2010 and then now, before attempting to renew it.

Keep watching TMR for more news on a new Toyota Supra, if it ever eventuates…

A "hybrid V6 FT-1" could be close to $50k. You recall back in 2007 when Toyota said a production version of the FT-HS would be in the mid 35k price range.

Given the rate of inflation that would be about $40k in 2014. But a "hybrid V6 FT-1" may cost a little more than that. The FT-1 is bigger than FT-HS. It is also a bit more style as well. So that might be a little extra $$$.

Default Toyota FT-1 Concept celebrates CALTY Design Studio's 40th anniversary

DETROIT -- Toyota's FT-1 Concept was first designed for the Sony Playstation's Gran Turismo 6 video game. Then, it came to life during its world debut at the 2014 North American International Auto Show on Jan. 13. The FT-1 Concept also celebrates the 40th anniversary of the automaker's CALTY Design Studio located in Newport Beach, Calif. It is the automaker's answer to Akio Toyoda’s call for design revolution, more heart-pounding design.

"It's a car to get the public excited about Toyota again," said Bob Mochizuki, senior designer at Toyota's CALTY Design Studio. "It's an authentic sports car, new styling plus it pays respect to the old sports cars like the Supra, 2000GT and Celica. We want to respect tohose cars, but come out with a brand new, exciting aggressive Toyota."

Please tell me about some of the interior and exterior features on the FT-1 Concept.

"Well, the exterior, is basically a real, pure sports car," he added. "It has a long hood, cabin pushed back, rear wheel drive, gas engine with a lot of beautiful sculpture and a lot of cool mechanical pieces to have a more racer look to it. The interior is designed around a heads-up display so it's easy for the driver to focus on the road. All of the controls are on the steering wheel. It's a big V-shape, totally wraparound the driver. He's in total control."

As we've been talking, I saw the spoiler go up and down.

"Yeah, it has a big spoiler in the back that comes up at a certain speed. It's to pay [tribute] to the older Supra's. It gives a no-nonsense performance feel to the whole car."

Toyota has just confirmed that a new sports car based on the Supra will be coming in 2016. They filed a new trademark filing to the United States Patent & Trademark Office on February 10 to secure the character mark ‘Supra.’

"We try to put as many cool features on it, make it a beautiful, sexy beast," the senior designer explained. "I hope the public enjoys it."
