Default Lexus GS F sightings (updated pg 20)

It's been a while since we've heard rumors of the fabled high-performance Lexus GS F, but thanks to our eager spy photographers, this looks to be our first real proof of the machine's existence. We don't have the usual brace of photos from all angles to work with this time around, our spies saying that every time Lexus' garage door opened, engineers jumped in front of the cameras to prevent the car from being photographed.

Even so, we have a pretty clear glimpse at some significant changes to this GS sedan, including the same staggered, quad-pipe exhaust found on the Lexus IS F. There's also an air diffuser panel nestled between the exhaust outlets, as well as a larger lip spoiler and unique wheels (matching those of the RC coupe) wrapped in high-performance tires.

Last time we heard rumors of the GS F's existence, sources predicted that the M5-fighting sedan would use a tuned version of Lexus' 5.0-liter V8, producing something like 465 horsepower. We have also heard that the automaker plans to reduce weight wherever possible, and that the final curb weight will be something like 3,700 pounds.

Of course, those earlier reports said we'd see the car as early as 2012, and that obviously didn't happen. These days, our spies' best guess is that the GS F will arrive in time for the 2015 model year.

I don't see those pics as proof of a GS-F ...... and if 465hp is true, a non-starter ......

^Weight is the enemy.

M5: 4,300lbs, 550hp = 7.81lbs per hp.

Theoretical GS F: 3,700lbs, 465hp = 7.95 lbs per hp.

Most M5 and E63 owners I knew and saw get them for bragging rights and prestige instead of performance and fun, so hp numbers do matter A LOT as an attraction to potential buyers.
Most of the mid-sized AMG's and M's I saw frequently use the the slow lane and are babied

As much as I would like to see a GS F, I'm still not convinced. What we're seeing could be some kind of test mule for the RC F, which is definitely on its way. The IS and the RC are both derived from GS chassis, which is superb.

the M5 also starts at 90k. there is no way in hell lexus is stupid enough to sell a GS of any kind for that price. instead, i see a car that can have near M5 performance for around the price of a 550i M Sport. Or a near RS6 performance for a S6 price. that is the lexus way.

This car was photographed alongside RC F mules. They are not testing RC F hardware under a GS body, alongside actual RC Fs.

In my book that looks like enough evidence to me. Its an aggressive looking GS with the F exhaust. That plus all the hype and rumors mixed with Lexus' desire to wake up the brand........I'd say its a GSF

GS 450h can already be $75k... GS F will probably start at $80k.

try to pitch that at m5 and e63 owners who lexus is targeting at. this is not LFA, the same pitch doesn't work well

Same deal with the Audi S6 hanging with the M5 and E63 AMG. Motortrend or C&D (can't remember) had the S6 beating the two in a comparo despite the lack of 80-100hp. Imagine a RS6

Get them in the driver's seat. Toyota and Lexus is out to build a new breed of performance car with LFA, GT86 and perhaps the future of F. I am not discounting them until we see a final result, track tested against competitors.

Like someone already stated there is already a two door RC / RC-F that's been spied.

Also Toyota has filed trademark for GS-F.

imo lexus isnt looking to target the M5. instead they will do their own thing and offer us the V8 GS we all asked for since launch. the M5 feels like it went up half a segment both in price and power. lexus wont try to match that. there is no reason to. rich snobs will buy german regardless so why try to win them over? instead they will focus on the people who want something above the GS350 but not keen on getting the hybrid GS450h. imo 70k starting, like an S6, is the most likely scenario.
